They seem to think the answer is to try to hire cuter girls.

(there are no cuter girls)

What do they expect? Excellent and unbiased reporting surrounded by news-babes. It's a winning combination!

Poor Chris Matthews...how embarrassing! I would expect they would eventually cancel his show.

I don't know but last night Hardball's "Boots on the Ground" was EXCELLENT!

I want to know how Greta is beating out H&C.. Maybe the whole Holloway story bit?

Either way, its no suprise to me. Fox is the only station that is semi neutral. Even Scarough leans left. I watched his show for about 10 minutes and when they were discussing the Rove bit and the man was ignoring facts and convicting the man solely on media hype. That was the end of it for me.

Any person who swallows media coverage as fact like that will not get my viewership.

Same here, O'Reilly is annoying, H&C seems to have lost it's focus as a political show and I never watched Greta much anyway. Once Shep goes off (my fiance has a crush on him for some reason), the TV goes to a movie or gets turned off altogether.

"I don't know how Fox keeps it's prime time audience. O'Reilly's show is unwatchable because he's such a pompous ass, Hannity and Colmes is generally a food fight and Greta is all (fill in the blank with whatever the overworked, overhyped news story of the day is) all the time!
--snip--
I can only bear to watch Brit Hume...hands down the best evening news program on TV."

Exactly. But the moment Wesley Clark comes on, I'm watching something else.

I don't know how Fox keeps it's prime time audience.

I call it the "Bob Saget syndrome" -more on that in a bit.

O'Reilly's show is unwatchable because he's such a pompous ass

I call this the "Dr. Smith Factor" ('Oh the pain')

Hannity and Colmes is generally a food fight and Greta is all (fill in the blank with whatever the overworked, overhyped news story of the day is) all the time!

I pleaded with my cable supplier to bring us FOX and now I can only bear to watch Brit Hume...hands down the best evening news program on TV, Cavuto and the Beltway Boys

O.k. I'll take a shot at this. Do you remember Bob Saget? Funniest Home Videos? -Well, in his time, his show was one of the most wildly popular in rating, HE was truly one of America's biggest, most beloved celebrities, in the Country.

Yet I couldn't bear one WORD of his trite drivel and would only watch the video clips, I couldn't STAND him, and I didn't know anyone who could.

AT the peak of that shows popularity I sat back and thought, -we are truly a Nation of tards.

When our mass media has to be dumbed this far down to be palatable to the average Joe, we STAY dumbed down.

FOX is popular -unfortunately- for many of the reasons you pointed out, you watch O'Reilly, you get the indignation and bombast, -when it comes from a guy with so much makeup on, that he looks like a drag queen it's even better.

Hannity, yes. We love our food fights, who could imagine anything better than a "Fair & Balanced" show that pits a Conservative pitbull against the proverbial 98Lb Liberul weakling.

So, I too sit there and watch FOX, but I roll my eyes at O'reilly, Hannity or Colmes is never really provocative or inspiring, same menu every night. But I watch.

You were right about Hume and Cavuto, but the dumbed down public isn't capable of mindlocking with them.

"And yet, it is more watchable than the rest, thats how bad it is, although I'll "give CNN credit for their coverage of the Space Program, which is second to none."

I was going to miss the Discovery launch so decided to tape it.  As I put the tape in I didn't hesitate to pick CNN as I agree, their coverage of the Space Program does beat them all. That's it though.

While Fox News is basically the only news I watch --Brit Hume's show is my only can't miss Fox News show-- it is just barely better than the rest of them. If the other networks would realize that and get off the bias liberal nonsense they could easily compete with Fox. I used to watch O'Reilly until I came to realize there is nothing new to learn from him. He is either uniformed --maybe he is too busy to actually do his own research or something-- or days behind what we already know and he spends way too much time on child sex stories. Has he ever done any real investigating about any important stories? If he has I haven't seen it and we are all still waiting for the results of his internal investigation about Rather/memo gate. His endless self promotion is nauseating. Fox News is my choice, for now, but they could be much better too.

Naa. Just put on "Tiny Tim" Tucker with even lower ratings for comparison.

LOL...you hit the nail on the head. Bob Saget made the hair on the back of my neck stand up.

Maybe because H & C's 9:00 PM ET time slot is the only one with any 'competition' [if you want to call it that].

CNN 8PM - Paula Zahn 513,000 v [O'Reilly]
CNN 9PM - Larry King 1,533,000 v [H & C]
CNN 10PM - Aaron Brown 564,000 v [Greta]

Question - why is Hardball the only 6PM ET show listed on Drudge? What about Shepard Smith and Anderson Cooper. I'm sure Chrissie is not beating them.

Back on 15 June during 6PM ET:

http://insidecable.blogsome.com/2005/06/16/vox-populi-for-wednesday-june-15/

Shep was 1,390,000
Anderson was 530,000
Chrissie was 368,000

I too have wearied of Fox since the elections ended. They are stuggling to find anything to report.

Missing girls who may have been murdered is Greta's turf, and Hanity and O'Reilly should stay on political topics.

However, while watching Fox wearies and disappoints me, at least it doesnt' enrage me!!!!! like its alternatives do.

What amuses me no end is that the repeats on FNC get so many more viewers than live show on other news channels.

I said amused, not surprised, mind you.

I'm with you... and I run FR's FoxFan ping list! Other than Brit, Cavuto, the Beltway Boys, the Fox News Watch, Cal Thomas' show on Saturday night and a couple of other shows, I'm not finding much on FNC to be a fan about lately...

Thanks for the news!

Interestingly enough, I heard a guest on Michael Medved's show today (some Commie from Great Britian who was a volunteer in some anti-war group) claim that the subscription rates for liberal political journals were surpassing those of conservative journals.

I don't believe that for one second.

It could only happen, similar to Hillary's screed getting on the Bestseller list, if some big sugardaddy buys 50,000 copies a week for 6 weeks to get it on a bestseller list.

In the mag case, they would either burn them or send them out to people's mailing list for free.
