>> The passion of the Clinton haters is a phenomenon without equal in recent American politics.
The phenomenon that needs explaining is Clinton lovers, not "haters." For example: the people who adored him to the point of sacrificing their own principles, such as the feminists who forgave his womanizing and even his rape.
Similarly, it the hatred of Bush that is without parallel in our history. There are legions today who blindly loathe President Bush, regardless of what he does or says. This is, to say the least, irrational.
In contrast, Clinton was and is kind of a lovable rogue in the great Southern tradition of cemetery lot salesmen. He is a Bubba. Conservatives didn't hate him, however much they despaired a given Clinton policy, or what he did to blue dresses, or his word twisting, or -- one that always fascinated me -- his pretending to be Jesus.

I hate his rapist enabling, power hungry dirty bitch of a WIFE.
That was an interesting article and commentary. I agree with most of it and nobody has even mentioned the last week of his Presidency. The looting of the WH and the pardon of Marc Rich. A legacy of looting the American people both morally and physically by a pathological liar...with an enabling media at every turn. That IS his legacy.
I hate them both. But then, you knew that.......
I don't know why others hated Bill Clinton, but I hate a liar.
New rule: They aren't even allowed to ask this question anymore, given the bile and vituperativeness they've poured out on dubya. The one difference between the two is that with Clinton, there was always the fresh scent of weasel in the air, whereas with Bush, the literary metaphor (which libs so love) is Moby Dick: The libs keep chasing Moby Dubya but never catch him, and in the end he destroys them!
President Richard Nixon was choir boy compared to the treasonous clinton(s)

It would be easier to put down what I liked about him...................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................No can't think of anything.
For how he treated the "little people" -- Paula Jones, Linda Tripp, the WH Travel Office, etc. For his rapes. For his murders. For his lies, for his thefts. For his cover-ups, for his collusions. For his amorality.
The archtypical liberal - arrogant - totally wrong about everything he believes - unable to learn from reality - pompous - hypocritical - etc. What's not to hate?
Where has this guy been?
It is not based on any specific policies that Clinton promoted or implemented during his years in office. It is almost entirely personal.
If the media was honest about Clinton's character he never would have been elected. He was caught in lies from day 1 and he was never held accountable for them by those institutions that would be expected too.
Further, he took campaign contributions from the Communist Chinese in exchange for missile technology.
Further, he treated the lives of U.S. military personnel cheaply -- Somilia, getting a B.J. while lobbying for support for military action etc.
Further, we was incompetent in foreign policy which most conservatives understood long for 9/11.
Further, he did not believe laws and principles -- upon which he campaigned -- did not apply to him, sexual harrassment, Paula Jones, "the most ethcial administration in history", Wall Street greed.
I could be here all day. Needless to say Jimmy Carter was a worse president but I don't despise him.
Bill Clinton would do anything to put a nickle in his pocket including selling America's secrets. He is the lowest form of life on this planet.
The generational thing rings true for me. Clinton really does represent that....what with the flowery new age feel good rhetoric on the facade while unleashing unbridled destructive self-interest under the surface.
Perhaps we disliked him because his cowardice at Mogodishu made us a target for terrorists. I knew, the day I saw them dragging a naked American soldier in the street and we did NOTHING, that we would become a target for every third rate power on the planet. Of course, I had no way of knowing it wouldn't be a state that would challange us, but a bunch of religious thugs. But I knew then we were in for trouble.
