Seems as famous as this race is, they could afford to repave the finish!
Let me know how the ceremonies go. See you on the NASCAR thread just before race-time.
Don't know if I'll stay for all of it, the yard becons again. later.
The breakaway has been caught, street is drying, and speeds increasing.
Thank you so much for doing this. I don't speak up much, so this is the only time of the year I see "New posts to you" on a regular basis. It's kinda fun. And what a great group of fellow Freepers and fans to "hang out" with. Anyway, thanks.
Two laps to go. American Chris Horner is one of two breakaway riders. 13 second split.
The Lone Star flag has been raised on the bell lap.
Two km to go. Sprinter teams going to the front.
17:25 - McGee & Vino Lead
McGee and Vinokourov are going to contest the stage win. They are on the Place de la Concorde together with a lead of about 100m on the peloton.
Vino got the stage win, the yellow jersey has crossed the finish. Lance with # 7.
The major sprinters got skunked!
Apparently it wasn't over... Vuno's listyed as finishing 5th overall, 20 sec ahead of Levi.
Who the heck is Vuno???
Unusual, but nice speech on the podium by Lance. (I wish he had called Jan by his name rather than "this guy here", but oh well) Is that the first time ever the TDF winner gave a speech up there?
Yes. I hope it is reserved only for those winning seven in a row.
What he said.
Can't wait for next year, there are so many that could win.
I have to run out for a few hours, but will be back later to ping you to some post-TDF articles I find on FR or elsewhere. It's been a lot of fun, but it isn't quite over yet. There will still be a few (just a few) TDF threads left (ie, TDF photos, info on the big OLN Lance Armstrong interview in early August).
Please FReepmail me if you want on or off my Tour de France 2005 list.
