Thanks, but given that I have pale-white skin, blond hair, and blue eyes, keeping a low profile will be a bit difficult. ;)

Its probably safe to say many of us have family or friends deployed and no one meant any disrespect to our troops.

You are giving more than most and have every right to get onto me like that. I apologize, agree with, and will respect your wishes. ;)

Ok, I'm thinking self tanner, hair dye/hat and sunglasses!

Seriously, I would be very cautious out there for awhile.

Sprinkle a little bit of German in your everyday speech, wear lederhosen, walk around with with a massbier in your hands, drive a BMW, click your heels together....hey it might work!

This business of treating the Turks like Europe's poor relations is hundred's of years old, and I think it's about time it should stop.

Yes, it is. But as we all know, we can't ever take that for granted.

My husband had to fly recently, and soon I will join him. I never worried before, this time I feel very uncomfortable about it. It is a long trip. 14 hrs. In itself, exhausting. I will probably be on meds, LOL! We are taking 3 dogs...maybe I will get some from the VET!!

Anyway, life has changed, even though we continue to say we will not let the terrorists change our life. It has, and it will never be the same again. How I long for the days of pleasant travel, shopping and eating out without always having a wary eye about others, letting children play freely in their own neighborhoods and go to school without worry. Not all is changed from the terrorists, but life sure has not become better, IMHO.

We can cook faster, clean our homes with less effort, drive on roads that go everywhere and for the most part are good, and have so many "creature comforts." But the basic quality of life, the pleasure of knowing we are safe and able to have real freedom - is gone. We have adjusted, as we always will. But is that good???? I wonder.

Are you truly upset? I was only saying that it is never ANY other religion or culture than Islamofascist freaks when these bombs go off. FReepers are always grimly joking, let's see, who could it have been THIS time? Methodists? Jews? LDS? It's always Islamists.

Well I get annoyed because all the sarcastic remarks waste everyone's time trying to scroll/read through those posts to find the real NEWS UPDATES on these threads. Particularly on breaking news threads.

I was utterly AMAZED the other day on the 7/21 London train station almost-bombings thread, when it wasn't until after around 700 posts that the sarcastic/joke posts started showing up. It was quite refreshing to be able to read the thread (which I joined late) and follow the events as they unfolded without having to waste so much time sifting through junk to find the 1 or 2 posts per page that were "news."

(And yes, I'm contributing my own "junk" to this thread by posting this... for which I apologize... I'm just voicing support for less and less joking around on breaking news threads.)

I think you forgot Serbia

Huh?

Turkey and India are both great imperial nations with a long track record of suppressing or eliminating Islamokazis.

What's Serbia ever done except bleed?

We have two natural allies in this golbal war-India and Turkey. We have not managed either relationship well.

I disagree slightly - In that we have not mismanaged relations with either of these Nations - For they are allies of ours ONLY when it serves their interest (just like the majority of Nations on the Globe) -

But neither of these Nations stood up for the GWOT when it came to going into Iraq - India wants our support for the purpose of Pakistan & China (if those two aren't involved neither will India be).

Hani Janjour, a 9/11 hijacker, trained at the Scottsdale AZ airport, it isn't on this list.

Others did too.

LA Times article: http://www.911dossier.co.uk/pk13.html

WASHINGTON -- A Phoenix FBI agent who wrote a memo last year warning about suspicious Middle Easterners at flight schools had developed detailed information before Sept. 11 linking Arizona students to Osama bin Laden and to a radical British Islamic group, and he shared some of his concerns with the CIA, law enforcement sources said Wednesday.

Agent Kenneth Williams suspected that a group of about eight Middle Eastern men in the Phoenix area were not merely studying at flight schools but also had shown a keen interest in airplane engineering and airport construction and security, according to sources familiar with the closed-door briefings Williams gave members of Congress this week.

Ceramic or carbon-fibre bladed knives work just fine, and are basically undetectable {I have made five international round-trip flights with an 8" carbon fibre fairbarn dagger concealed on my person.}

One needs to know how to use them correctly, so as not to have them taken by an adversary with superior skills. A year of police DefTac training in college insures that I do.

If 'muhammad' gets "obstreperous" at 30,000 feet on any flight of which I'm a passenger, 'muhammad' might get his spinal chord severed rather quickly between T-2 and T-3 (second and third thoracic vertebrae). Or a two-inch incision along the length of his femoral artery...

CRUSAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAADE!

"Notice there's not a lot of islamofascists in the Deep South - the "good ole boys" know how to handle things down there!"

A bunch of the 9/11 hijackers lived in Florida for a while.

How do the "good old boys" "handle" them down there? Can you cite any examples?

Istanbul is a very cosmopolitan city, especially now, at the height of tourist season. Foreigners and Turks party into the night all over town. And not just with coffee. Turkey even produces some fairly decent wines. It's enough to get a bunch of islamofascists tied in knots, I tell you.
