Wait... does anyone hear that? Oh that's just the sound of iconoclast ignoring any and all points everyone made... Nice job... You come here throwing around normal talking points, only this isn't the mainstream media here, where those things go unchallenged. You get challenged and dismantled and have nothing left to say. Who else here thinks that iconoclast is still fired up from his Freshman PoliSci class he took last year.... You know, the class he was required to take, and having known nothing going in, believed every ounce of ridiculous crap his hippy professor told him? [sarcasm]Don't worry bud, everything he said was true... just like Fahrenheit 911... wait that was true, right?[/sarcasm]

Everybody with a interest in Egypt knows, that it is quite likely that "Gamaa Islamiya" (the terrorists that murdered Sadat) is behind the plot. Those guys have no link to Iraq or to the buddies America and the UK are dealing with.

While it's true the blast would likely have occured with or without the situation in Iraq... as for "there's no link", don't be so sure ...

1981 : (EGYPT: SADAT ASSASSINATION & THE 1993 WORLD TRADE CENTER BOMBING PLOTTER, BLIND SHEIKH OMAR ABDEL RAHMAN) Assassination of Anwar Sadat. Sheik Omar Abdel Rahman was detained by the Egyptian government in connection with this assassination. Though never convicted, he was kept for a time under house arrest in Egypt. - "FBI Wary of Investigating Extremist Muslim Leaders: Agency May Rethink Hesitancy on Religious Figures," By Walter Pincus, Washington Post Staff Writer, Monday, October 29, 2001; Page A04

1998 : (COLUMBIA, AL-GAMAL AL-ISLAMIYA, FARC, LUXOR, EGYPTIAN TERRORIST) An Egyptian terrorist belonging to al-Gamal al-Islamiya entered Colombia illegally in 1998 to hold talks with FARC and was arrested and turned over to U.S. authorities. — He was wanted in connection with the 1997 massacre of 80 Western tourists near Cairo.

1991 : (RAHMAN CHALLENGES BROOKLYN, NY IMAM MUSTAFA SHALABI FOR CONTROL OF THE LOCAL MOSQUE; SHALABI IS LATER MURDERED) Sheik Omar Abdel Rahman and his coterie challenged Mustafa Shalabi, the local imam, for control of a mosque in Brooklyn. ----- "FBI Wary of Investigating Extremist Muslim Leaders: Agency May Rethink Hesitancy on Religious Figures," By Walter Pincus, Washington Post Staff Writer, Monday, October 29, 2001; Page A04

1992 : (RAHMAN CHARGED ONCE AGAIN IN EGYPT) Sheik Omar Abdel Rahman was charged a second time in 1992 by Egypt for alleged involvement in the assassination of Anwar Sadat, but by that time he was already in the US. - "FBI Wary of Investigating Extremist Muslim Leaders: Agency May Rethink Hesitancy on Religious Figures," By Walter Pincus, Washington Post Staff Writer, Monday, October 29, 2001; Page A04

1993 : (RAHMAN, ALREADY IN CONTROL OF A JERSEY CITY MOSQUE, DEFEATS IMAM MUSTAFA SHALBI'S SUCCESSOR AND TAKES OVER BROOKLYN, NY MOSQUE) At the mosque in Brooklyn, NY, Sheik Omar Abdel Rahman won a vote of the mosque members and defeated the successor of the imam Mustafa Shalabi, who had been mysteriously murdered in 1991. Rahman already had control of another mosque in Jersey City, where some of his strongest supporters lived. But he did not limit himself to the East Coast. He also "traveled around the country . . . up and down the West Coast, where he was welcomed at mosques and greatly admired," the former FBI bureau official said.- "FBI Wary of Investigating Extremist Muslim Leaders: Agency May Rethink Hesitancy on Religious Figures," By Walter Pincus, Washington Post Staff Writer, Monday, October 29, 2001; Page A04

1993 : (WTC1 BOMBING PLOTTERS : SALAMEH, RAHMAN, YOUSEF) Under the influence of Sheik Omar Abdel Rahman, Ramzi Ahmed Yousef organizes Mohammed Salameh and three others in plotting and carrying out a bombing at NY's WTC towers that caused mass destruction, six deaths and more than a thousand wounded. The group is comprised of Egyptians and Palestinians. His companion, a Palestinian named Ahmad Ajaj, who arrived on a fake Swedish passport, was arrested and found to have bombmaking videos and manuals in his luggage. Salameh entered the US in 1988 on a Jordanian passport and a visitors visa issued in Amman, Jordan. He applied for legal residence status [presumably asylee status], was turned down, and continued to be in the country on appeal of that decision. Abdel Rahman, an Egyptian religious leader charged with inciting a 1989 riot in Egypt, obtained a visa in Khartoum, Sudan which had no automated lookout system that would have identified him as a security threat. He entered as a tourist and applied for political asylum and received legal residence. An immigration judge ordered him deported in March, 1993, but he was still in the country four months later when he is arrested for terrorist acts.

FEBRUARY 26, 1993 : (NY CITY : NOSAIR & WTC1 BOMBING) On Feb, 26, 1993, a bomb went off in the World Trade Center garage. The bombers included one of the cab drivers who had been at [El Sayed A] Nosair's apartment. [NYPD lieutenant Edward] Norris now asked a senior police official if the FBI had followed the bombers right up to the World Trade Center. "I can't tell you, but you're not far off," the official said. - "Terror Clues in '90 Killing/Feds missed hints of threat after Kahane assassination," by MICHAEL DALY, NY Daily News

1993 : (WTC1, YASIN GONE, HEADED FOR SAFE HARBOR IN IRAQ) Abdul Rahman Yasin mixed and made the truck bomb which wrought destruction and killed six in the first New York World Trade Center attack - then coolly boarded a plane for Baghdad, where he still resides.

1995 : (ATTORNEY LYNNE STEWART REPRESENTS THE ISLAMIC GROUP'S CLERIC, BLIND SHEIKH OMAR ABDUL RAHMAN DURING HIS GRAND JURY TRIAL IN THE 1993 WTC 1 BOMBING CASE & DAY OF TERROR CASE) Stewart’s connections to the Islamic Group date back to 1995, when she represented the group’s spiritual leader, the notorious “Blind Sheikh,” Sheikh Omar Abdul Rahman, during his federal grand jury trial in New York City. Rahman was convicted of helping engineer the 1993 World Trade Center bombing as well as a failed Islamic Group plan (known as “The Day of Terror”) to destroy other Manhattan landmarks including the Holland and Lincoln tunnels, United Nations building, and George Washington Bridge. Rahman was also found guilty of trying to arrange Mubarak’s assassination, an act that wasn’t surprising considering his fatwah (religous decree) against then-Egyptian President Anwar Sadat in 1981. Although Sadat was murdered soon after Rahman’s order, the Sheikh was acquitted of any wrongdoing. But thanks in part to a bizarre defense strategy by Stewart (in which she argued that issuing a fatwah to blow up the World Trade Center was merely part of the Sheikh’s religious duties as a Muslim cleric), and his glaring culpability in IG’s devious plots, Rahman was sentenced in October 1995 to life imprisonment plus 65 years. -- " Cheerleaders for Terrorism: Radical lawyer Lynne Stewart continues her support for Islamic terror ," By Erick Stakelbeck, FrontPageMagazine.com, Wednesday, June 17, 2003 posted June 18, 2003

1995 : (LYNNE STEWART BEFRIENDS SHEIK OMAR ABDEL RAHMAN - SEE ALSO THE 1993 WTC BOMBING, ISLAMIC GROUP, AHMED ABDEL SATTAR & MOHAMED YOUSRY) The saga began in 1995, when Stewart defended and befriended “the Blind Sheikh” Omar Abdel Rahman, the mastermind of the 1993 World Trade Center bombing. In the ensuring years, Stewart – with the aid of co-defendants Ahmed Abdel Sattar and Mohamed Yousry – illegally passed on fatwas from the sheikh to his fanatical footsoldiers in the Islamic Group, an Egyptian-based terror cadre dedicated to replacing the secular government of Hosni Mubarak with an Islamist dicatorship akin to the Taliban. OCTOBER 1995 : (IN SPITE OF ATTORNEY LYNNE STEWART'S BEST EFFORTS, THE ISLAMIC GROUP'S CLERIC, BLIND SHEIKH OMAR ABDUL RAHMAN, GETS LIFE IMPRISONMENT PLUS 65 YEARS IN THE 1993 WTC BOMBING CASE) But thanks in part to a bizarre defense strategy by Stewart (in which she argued that issuing a fatwah to blow up the World Trade Center was merely part of the Sheikh’s religious duties as a Muslim cleric), and his glaring culpability in IG’s devious plots, Rahman was sentenced in October 1995 to life imprisonment plus 65 years. The verdict left Stewart in tears, not only because of her shoddy courtroom performance—she was unprepared on several occasions during the proceedings—but also due to the close personal relationship she had developed with Rahman during their time together.
Indeed, as a September 2002 piece in the New York Times Magazine showed, Stewart’s affection for the Sheikh often reached real depths: “As Stewart got to know her new client, she came to see him as a fighter for national liberation on behalf of a people oppressed by dictatorship and American imperialism. She came to admire him personally too, for his honesty, his strength of character, his teasing humor. ‘I've made up my mind,’ the sheik would say. ‘I'm going to marry you, and that will solve everything.’ ‘And what do women get if they fight in jihad?’ [Stewart] would ask. ’” -- " Cheerleaders for Terrorism: Radical lawyer Lynne Stewart continues her support for Islamic terror ," By Erick Stakelbeck, FrontPageMagazine.com, Wednesday, June 17, 2003 posted June 18, 2003

1997 [before 1997] : (SATTAR HAS A GOVERNMENT CLEARANCE AS A PARALEGAL TO VISIT SHEIK OMAR ABDEL RAHMAN IN FEDERAL PRISONS) Until 1997, Sattar had government clearance as a paralegal to visit Abdel-Rahman in federal prisons. Even as the government was tapping his phone, Sattar, a 13-year veteran of the U.S. Postal Service, was drawing a $40,000 salary for a job with the main post office on Staten Island that included picking up priority mail from secure areas of John F. Kennedy International Airport. That job ended when he was abruptly transferred to a desk job at a remote branch on Staten Island after the Sept. 11 attacks.
Sattar had the same job at the Staten Island post office that the first postal worker to come down with anthrax had at the Brentwood postal facility in D.C. 1997 : (EGYPT : LUXOR ATTACKS BY SHEIKH OMAR ABDUL RAHMAN'S ISLAMIC GROUP) Despite the Sheikh’s incarceration, the Islamic Group still considers him its sole spiritual leader, a fact made brutally clear in 1997 when six assassins shot and stabbed 58 tourists and four Egyptians to death in Luxor, Egypt. Members of the Islamic Group later claimed responsibility for this murderous rampage, saying it was done to force authorities to release Rahman from prison in the United States. -- " Cheerleaders for Terrorism: Radical lawyer Lynne Stewart continues her support for Islamic terror ," By Erick Stakelbeck, FrontPageMagazine.com, Wednesday, June 17, 2003 posted June 18, 2003

1999 : (GROUP RESPONSIBLE FOR THE 1997 MASSACRE IN LUXOR, EGYPT ASKS AHMED ABDEL SATTAR TO HELP THEM EXPAND THEIR PRESENCE IN THE USA) According to Sattar's indictment, an Islamic group leader asked him to help expand the group's presence in the United States three years ago. 2000 : (FEDERAL MEDICAL CENTER, ROCHESTER, MINNESOTA : "SECRET DOVE" LYNNE STEWART & SHEIKH OMAR ABDUL RAHMAN'S CONVERSATIONS ARE TAPPED & TAPED; LYNNE'S ARABIC TRANSLATOR, MOHAMMED YOUSRY, DELIVERS MESSAGES FROM RAHMAN TO A STATEN ISLAND, NY, POSTAL WORKER NAMED AHMED ABDEL SATTAR, WHO IN TURN FACILITATES COMMUNICATION BETWEEN RAHMAN & THE ISLAMIC GROUP IN ORDER TO CONTINUE TERRORIST ACTS)It was through Yousry that Rahman, according to a 19-page indictment issued by federal agents, delivered messages in Arabic to a Staten Island-based postal worker named Ahmed Abdel Sattar. While Yousry was a go-between for Rahman and Sattar, Sattar in turn facilitated communication between Rahman and Islamic Group representatives in the Middle East. Sattar, through faxes and telephone conversations, informed Islamic Group members abroad of the Sheikh’s directives and desires; they in turn carried them out. ...
The messenger role played by both Yousry [an Arabic translator, Mohammed Yousry, who accompanied Lynne Stewart on her visits with Sheikh Omar Abdul Rahman in Minnesota] and Sattar [Staten Island-based postal worker named Ahmed Abdel Sattar] made the two irreplaceable cogs in the Islamic Group’s militant mission. But without Stewart, correspondence with the Sheikh would have been nonexistent. Stewart not only allowed Yousry to communicate privately with the Sheikh in Arabic, she encouraged and actively aided the two men’s efforts to conduct IG business behind bars. An F.B.I. affidavit prepared by agent Kimberley Whittle detailed the cunning measures Stewart resorted to during her prison visits in order to protect Rahman and assist the Islamic Group’s homicidal agenda. According to the affidavit, Stewart “made random comments out loud for the [prison] guards to hear in order to conceal the real conversation" between Rahman and Yousry. During one such exchange, Stewart—all the while pretending to take notes in her legal pad—misled nearby guards by loudly inserting the nonsensical phrase, “Yes, the um...I am talking to you about...him going out on a, uh, chocolate eh...heart attack here” into a discussion between Rahman and Yousry. A wiretap captured Stewart, Rahman and Yousry joking afterwards about Stewart’s deception, with the aging Leftist lawyer saying she could “get an award for it,” and the Sheikh adding, “as long as the government is using secret evidence we will use secret doves.” -- " Cheerleaders for Terrorism: Radical lawyer Lynne Stewart continues her support for Islamic terror ," By Erick Stakelbeck, FrontPageMagazine.com, Wednesday, June 17, 2003 posted June 18, 2003

JUNE 14, 2000 : (LYNNE STEWART RELEASES A PRESS STATEMENT TO REUTERS IN CAIRO, EGYPT ON BEHALF OF SHEIKH OMAR ABDEL RAHMAN - See 1993 WTC BOMBING, IG ) Stewart solidified her status as Islamic Group “dove” with her most flagrant defiance of the signed Special Administrative Measure—releasing an Islamic Group press release. The indictment handed down by federal authorities states, “On or about June 14, 2000, Stewart released Sheikh Abdul Rahman’s statement to the press and quoted the Sheikh as saying he is ‘withdrawing his support for the cease-fire that currently exists.’”
The statement, in direct violation of the SAM, signaled Islamic Group members that they should resume violence against the Egyptian government and end a cease-fire that had been in effect since 1998. Yet Stewart, showing no regard for the Luxor-like carnage that would potentially ensue, released the Sheikh’s decree to the international media. This was her final and most costly mistake...her transgressions were tracked by ... OCTOBER 2000 : (AN EDICT TO MUSLIMS GOES OUT IN THE NAME OF SHEIK OMAR ABDEL RAHMAN CALLING FOR THE KILLING OF JEWS 'WHEREVER THEY ARE FOUND" --- See: Ahmed Abdul Sattar/ Lynne Stewart/Rahman/WTC1 case)Ahmed Abdel Sattar said Wednesday that he urged a militant who had fled to Afghanistan to write a fatwa in the name of Sheik Omar Abdel Rahman, then edited the draft before it was released. On trial in New York with Lynne Stewart for charges of conspiring with Islamic terrorists, Sattar testified that he called for the message, without Abdel Rahman’s knowledge, because of Ariel Sharon’s September 2000 visit to the Temple Mount in Jerusalem, which enraged many Arabs because the site is also holy to them. Sharon, at the time the head of the Israeli opposition, was one of many Israeli politicians to visit the site.
“My intent was just to scream out loud, to cry,” Sattar said. [* My note: ...He said this years later]

OCTOBER 2000 : (BOMBING OF USS COLE : ISLAMIC GROUP CLAIMS THE ATTACK ON USS COLE WAS A WARNING TO THE US TO FREE SHEIKH OMAR ABDUL RAHMAN ) Not to be outdone, Osama bin Laden and a few of his fellow Al-Qaeda operatives appeared on Al-Jazeera television in September 2000 vowing to wage a jihad to end Rahman’s incarceration (one of the men extolled viewers to “avenge your Sheikh” and “go to the spilling of blood”). It’s no coincidence that the suicide bombing of the American navy destroyer U.S.S. Cole occurred just one month after this broadcast. That attack, which took place in Yemen and killed over 17 U.S. sailors, was explained by Sattar’s [Staten Island-based postal worker named Ahmed Abdel Sattar] Mid-east contacts as a warning to the U.S. government to free Rahman. -- " Cheerleaders for Terrorism: Radical lawyer Lynne Stewart continues her support for Islamic terror ," By Erick Stakelbeck, FrontPageMagazine.com, Wednesday, June 17, 2003 posted June 18, 2003
