Why don't you just be happy with your rules and we can be happy with ours. The answer to that question is self-evident to any rational person. Bureaucrats in every "free" country lack the very same gene. The result is that the justification will always be given thus:
"If England can accept losing a couple of hundred innocent lives to 'uphold the rule of law' as it applies to foreign illegal criminals, why can't we?
I'll give you a good example of how this mindless logic is not applied.
I have seen countless times the image of terrorists being held in a foreign country in metal shipping containers!
Meanwhile, we wring our hands and make a huge brouhaha about life at GITMO.
It's mind-boggling.

Armed police have surrounded a Mosque in East LondonHow encouranging!
Let me know when it's razed. I don't buy that a mosque can be used for a weapons warehouse and a bomb factory and the members are oblivious for years...

An increasing number of Americans don't care what President Bush says.
Who are we going to believe? Him or our own eyes?
Every muslim killer caught or killed has a support of 10-50 others behind him. Each one of those...

If the UK legal system is similar to that in the US, there should be all sorts of laws at every level of government that can be used to stop (or prosecute) just about anything/anyone. There's zoning, environmental, taxation, continuing criminal enterprise, civil rights, etc. etc. etc. If not, one can always get an appropriate law passed if the legislative body is "properly" motivated.

Some countries of origin won't take them back, plus some are British with foreign born parents. Not surprisingly, some of us don't view that as a problem, once they've identified themselves by their behavior. They are then all in one category only: dead.

" I live out in the countryside now, "
Which county ? Just CUREious ! I spent a lot of time in England in the late 70's/early 80's ...Traveled the whole country ...

A lot do realize it, which is why it's annoying to hear it. Asian describes half the world's population. That doesn't narrow it down very well. Why should it be annoying at all? England has many colorful "limey-isms" that are endearing. It's like our news reporters calling illegal Mexicans "cement workers"; it's a commonly shared code word.
As long as you know where Asia is and what's in it, what does it matter?
I have my Limey irritation too, but I just suck it up: "it is feared that..." as an affectation, where fear is not part of the story.

Here is the original comment being discussed:
Looming in the background is what looks like a huge, huge blue mosque under construction. I saw this after 9/11, but don't know exactly when this segment was filmed, but I saw that mosque and had a sense of how far London had gone toward accomodating Islam and my jaw hit the floor.
Now, what I wanted to know is how the (private) building of a mosque is "accomodating Islam". You can argue that the UK shouldn't allow mosque construction, but that is in no way accomodating or not accomodating islam.
(BTW, it was pointed out later that the building in question was not a mosque.)

I read the first few hundred posts and saw the picture. "ac·com·mo·da·tion (-km-dshn) n.
1. The act or state of adjustment or adaptation."
allowing the building a mosque sounds like accommodation to me.

Mad Ivan. You stay safe. Tell your brethren. The US was with you Brits in WWII, and they are with you now. Our greatest allies in nearly 200 years. To hell with the losers at DU, etc. God save the Queen and God save these United States!!

Instead of tracking these AQ suspects, why don't they just arrest them and deport them? The mules may lead you to the planners and organizers. But just in case they don't, that 's what the sniper rifles are for.

Stockwell station is more than a Mile from MI6 HQ. I guess in London a mile is a goodly distance. Here in central Texas, it's just up the road.
In fact a gun store less than a mile from a Texas Ranger Barracks in Waco was robbed this week. They found the get away vehicle in a location that meant they almost had to have driven right past the Ranger barracks.

Yep, C130 airfare included and they must have seat belts buckled and tray tables up for landing. What tray tables?

1. Are there no mosques in the USA? Too many.
But we have been sending any openly "Death to America" type Imans back to where the came from. Apparently you accros the pond have begun to do that as well.
2. How many Muslims are in the USA?
see answer to #1.

I want to see a picture of the shot dude. NOW!
This is another example of gun violence and why we need to ban all guns around the world. Of course the terrorist use bombs made out of household products so we'll have to ban them too. (sarcasm off)

It's complicated, however, by the fact that any Muslim who denounces terrorism-in-the-name-of-Allah is considered an infidel
Uh, according to who? The radical fundamentalists that have hijacked their religion? If what you say is true then they are all our enemies. There is no middle ground. Is this how the "peace" loving Muslims interpret the Koran?
If so they are no different than the a$$holes that are trying to kill us. If they are not willing to die for their beliefs then I suppose they are just sheep being led to the slaughter.
I am willing to die to protect my religion, my family, and my way of life, in order to perpetuate myself and my families existence. All I hear is how religious these people are and how much they disagree with the fanatics who. according to them are misinterpreting their "bible". How can this be? Are you trying to tell me they do not have a mind of their own?
I could understand this, if it was happening in Saddam's Iraq or the Hard Liner's Iran, but how is it, that it is happening in Britain? There are Muslims over there that claim to be English citizens. Are you trying to tell me they cannot be, because the militants say they can't?Are they are so afraid of their "brothers" that they no longer have a mind of their own?

I don't know why I do it to myself sometimes...
It's scary as hell....but I went and perused DU's take on this case.
Simply unreal.
It seems some there have their heads on reasonably straight, but the overall conspiracy/paranoia level is phenomenal.
Well, and not to mention the lack of common sense.
My thoughts are with you our Brothers in Arms....stay safe.
Oh, and I can't tell you how proud I am of the way the police handled this situation. Talk about concise, quick and spot on decision making...../salute

Well I'm about 6 feet tall, I generally dress in black, and have a long black leather trenchcoat I wear often (OK, I'm a Goth).I wish they had Goth when I was younger. I still go into their shops and dream. My hubby won't go through the door with me.
