Britain or pre-Britain England was however conquered by the Romans. It is interesting for me to examine the similarities between the modern Jihadists Terrorists and the ancient Barbarians. Unfortunately my ancestors were at one time considered barbarians. Both my Scottish and Polish ancestors were not conquered by Rome and did not enter into the protection of the Free or Modern World. My Scottish ancestors remained enemies of Rome and my Polish ancestors lived in areas where Roman legions never ventured. One can only hope that these Modern day Jihadists will come to represent the last world tribe that needs to be forceably accepted into the Modern Free World.
You are, of course, correct. But the minority of self-loathers control the media and it is THIS image which embolden our enemies.
One shouldn't take Mr Browne too seriously in my opinion. He is the son of immigrants. His politics are informed by an immigrant's sensibility, which means a willingness to accept plenty more off-comers if 'necessary' (how could he object?). Furthermore his book on immigration is only discussed at all in mainstream circles because his arguments are in fact not very radical at all. The author boasts of having had many black girl-friends, urges the rest of us to adopt a similarly welcoming attitude to newcomers, and openly yearns for the day when national border controls will be a thing of the past and we can get on with the important business of having sex with Japanese people.
Mr Browne distinguishes between 'British' and 'Scottish' in his latest offering. This too is fairly typical. According to a broad rule of thumb operating in the 'British' press one can say quite a lot so long as it does nothing to inflame English nationalism, that is by using any reference likely to identify the English as a distinct peoples with their own traditions. Perhaps the author hasn't lived here long enough to know the English exist. Anthony Browne lives in London. Once the capital of England, that city is home to few English people nowadays, and what few remain are busy making plans to leave, a phenomenon that come to be known as 'White Flight'. I rather think the future dreamed of by this particular 'patriot' has all ready come to pass. He is welcome to it.
I alos love my country deeply. I am referring to the 'media' view of our country, which is how were are viewed around the world.
