Before becoming Scotty, Doohan was first a World War 2 Vet.

One of the first to land at Normandy. He was a true hero, taking SIX bullets including one that cost him a finger and another that would've killed him but for his silver cigarette case. He was 19 when he joined up so I hope we think of that when we see frauds like John Kerry and today's "actors" like Richard Gere wagging fingers at NYC cops and firemen at the 9/11 benefit.

He's now swapping stories with Bones/Dr. McCoy up in heaven. RIP, Mr. Doohan.

Richard Boone, Lee Marvin and close friend Leslie Nielsen were classmates

I'm rewatching Richard Boone's "Have Gun Will Travel/Paladin" series from the late fifties. Sadly, they don't make "manly men" series anymore.

I recall the two Trek conventions I attended with him as guest of honor. He made it clear he did not care for Bill Shatner much, but he had a great sense of humor and I have a DC Star Trek comic annual signed by him.

That has to be priceless now, but I would not part with it for anything.

Rest in peace, Jimmy. And say hi to De for us.
