It's "stunning" to the "conservative" Kristol that he picked a "conservative".

Billy need to be a bit less transparent.

Since when did the Rat Senators get prime time to rebut a SC nomination?

I may not agree 100% with all policies of the administration and obviously exercise my rights to say so and will work in the system to change them if possible...

But look at the alternative on the November 2004 ballot and ask yourself the question..

Do you feeel lucky? Today, I do.

Hats off to the strategery of Dubya and Karl and crew.

And, I see the dem's rebuttal to the President's nomination is already setting the groundwork for their filibuster.

Nuke 'em Frist, nuke 'em now.

Mrs. Roberts looks like a nice lady. They should have put some makeup on her..she was very shiny in the face!

"I'd say there's a lot of nervious FReepers that owe GWB a hugh apology, thankfully."

I stand by everything I said in opposition to Clements, none of which was personally attacking Dubya, so he won't be getting one from me. And I haven't found any Roberts cases on the DC Court to establish a track record, either.

However, if Roberts is as conservative on the SCOTUS as he seems to be based on his prior briefs for H.W., I will owe Dubya a thank-you for delivering on his promise to appoint a Scalia or a Thomas. And I will happily send that in as soon as Roberts has ruled on a case from the SCOTUS that would demonstrate his bent. I am still examining his record.

I think, before that, I already owe the President a thank-you for ending the reign of affirmative action in SCOTUS appointments. Far, far better to appoint a plain ol' white guy and demonstrate that the pick is not for a 'woman's seat' on the Court, but for the SCOTUS. I think it was very smart to save the big guns for the next pick. The Prez once again proves his political savvy.

So, this looks to be very good news, and I am certainly happy it's NOT Clements--but I am still researching Roberts' record, before I say it IS good news.

Leahy is such a jerk, saying that SCOTUS is much different than apellate court.

It also means he knows women and will not be a jerk.

Men with sisters seem to me to be better at getting alone with, respecting, liking women.

Kristol just said that whereas Luttig would have been in the same category as a Scalia or a Thomas, that Roberts is more in the line of a Rehnquist. He did manage to say the President went for QUALITY - outstanding quality.

Barf alert - Leahy and Schumer now speaking.

That's true.

Listening to Leahy claiming the nominee must be good for "all Americans." He's boring, pedantic, and sounds tired and slow.
