". . .it is clear that for the NRA, guns are more important than children . . ."

Sounds like Josh's estrogen levels are elevated. Better get the ovaries checked.

Maybe it's me, but the headline makes it seem like LaPierre is saying the Columbus ban is worse than Columbine.

It's not you. It's purposely worded like thst for the people who only read the headlines.

Josh Sugarmann is an arrogant, condescending, hyperventilating, hyperbolic, misanthropic twit with his panties perpetually in a twist.

I wonder how he sleeps at night knowing that he:

1. Is lying.
2. Is promoting policies that are very dangerous to civilians (especially women and children).

His bloviations are the antithesis of what is true and defy common sense.

He should be ignored, or better yet, ridiculed at every opportunity.

“Columbus police officers said they didn’t want to face military-style semiautomatic assault weapons on the streets.."

And as we all know, anyone crazy enough to shoot at cops with an assault rifle will certainly turn in their weapons because of this law. And you know what, if a cop doesn't want to face danger, maybe he should become a accountant or something. I still think of those cowardly cops at Columbine that waited outside while a man bled to death inside the school.

IN case anybody doesn't know the story.

The NRA couldn't move its meeting from Columbine after the shootings, because the meeting was within the month. There was no way to get out meeting change information, and the meeting was REQUIRED BY LAW. They cancelled everything BUT the mandatory meeting.

In THIS case, they are moving the 2007 meeting (not 2005, not 2006, but 2007). They are simply saying that if your city passes laws the NRA doesn't like, they won't use your city for their convention.

A father of one of the murdered Columbine students said the reason it happened was because of how far our society has veered away from God's word.

if you ever have a chance, read the after action report from that whole mess....they still refused to admit they were both put on mind altering drugs, claiming privacy rights, but the bottles were found at the kids house.

Columbine happened some weeks before the scheduled NRA convention in CO. The NRA didn't have time to move it so the convention was toned way down with not big speeches and the gun show was turned into almost a no gun show.

There is plenty of time to move the Columbus, OH convention elsewhere.

From the article: "Now, when Columbus, Ohio, votes to ban the very guns used in the Columbine massacre, the NRA acts almost immediately to move its meeting."

Actually, they are referring to the very guns NOT used in the Columbine massacre. I distinctly recall seeing a SWAT member cowering behind a vehicle holding what was no doubt a fully automatic M-16. A derringer hidden in a teacher's pocket could have done more good than an entire police force armed to the teeth and waiting for the shooting to stop.
