I say give the Surfer Girl a shot. Who the hell cares at this point? The entire city leadership is thoroughly corrupt.

For me, the biggest problems with the city are financial and I would rather have a good businessman in charge. Hippie Frye will only allow the unions to take over even more. Her well know union connection scares me.

From my observations...

Murphy was a "go along/get along" & provided no leadership.

Good riddance.

Well, the general situation appears to be or to have been that the former mayor and the former interim mayor were, evidently, rather thoroughly corrupt. That being the case, my question was just another way of asking whether San Diegans would have much/any objection to having an honest mayor (no knowledge here about this woman at all, and no opinion whatever), even if she happened to be a barking moonbat twit.

Hey, I live in the suburbs of STL; we'd CHEERFULLY accept an idiot as mayor of STL, rather than the succession of corrupt and semi-corrupt 'Rat machine pols that we've endured, given that he or she were generally honest. (Of course, it's easily argued that some number of these mayors are/were absolutely idiots to boot). Actually, to be fair, that should read ''machines' '' pols; there are truly two parties in STL -- the Black 'Rats and the White 'Rats.

Both of those convicted today were Democrats. In fact so was the their councilman but he died a year or two ago before the trial began.

Not technically automatically. First they have to miss half of the city council meetings and if the remaining vermin don't pass a resolution to excuse their absense they're out. Otherwise state law suggests they're just suspended (not technically 'kicked out') until sentencing. Let's hop the braindead will let the charter take its course and they'll be removed for failure to attend meetings so we can get special elections in those Districts and maybe a final vote on new council persons there during the Nov special elections.

All that technicality said, I couldn't be more pleased with this verdict!

What happened to that surfer babe who was contesting that she had won the election with write-in ballots?

She's running to fill the newly vacated Mayor's office. The primary is next Tuesday and she's expected to come in first but without the 50%+1 needed to take office immediately. The two likely runners-up are alledgedly GOP. One is an ex-SD police chief admitted RINO backed by a skunk ex-City Manager and an 80's Nevada legislator who got run out of Vegas and only moved into the city two years ago. The later has the backing of the local GOP but they have awful judgement; they supported the quitting "top 3 worst mayors" guy in his reelection in Nov '04.

If I were to guess I'd say the 'cop' will edge the carpetbagger. The RINO 'cop' is in bed with the unions just like the surfer chick.

Did someone say she's a "babe"? No, really. I saw it up topic!

She's pure barking moonbat and unions feel they can't spend too much to help her election bids. Crazy might be better than corrupt but her relationship to the unions is far too cozy considering our financial mess is due to far over-promised benefits to the do-nothing union goonsquads.

Here's a great bit from Inzunza's website under "Ethics in Gov't":

Jus Publicum Privatorum Pactis Mutari Non Potest (A public law or right cannnot be altered by the agreements of private persons)

Although the above quotation is from past-United States President Jimmy Carter, if you were to substitute the word "city " for "nation", you'd have the very reason I worked with Mayor Dick Murphy in establishing San Diego's own Ethics Commission. I truly believe that the success of any free society depends in large measure upon its ability to achieve and maintain a high degree of mutual trust. And that trust will only be given where the public believes its leaders to be completely and impartially dedicated to the public interest. They must be certain that those whom they have elected to lead will do so without violating in self interest the very rule of law they ask their constituents to obey.

Christ, mate, I've seen better skin than that on Egyptian papyrus pulled out of Pharoah's tomb.

I trust San Diegans will vote this surfer/airhead/moonbat/ambulatory mummy in huge numbers, and unions (as ever, one can hope) be damned.

FReegards, and GOOD luck in sending the bride of the mummy back to the beach!
