I'm sure all of those who have accused Santorum of "hating" gays are going to be very disappointed by his reaction here.

According to PageOneQ, an online gay and lesbian publication, director of communications Robert L. Traynham, said that he was an "out gay man who completely supports the senator." Santorum, the third-ranking Republican in the Senate leadership has been an outspoken opponent of homosexual rights and a leading proponent of a constitutional amendment banning same-sex marriage. TRANSLATION--All homosexuals, like every other minority, should realize that the GOP hates them.
Doncha love the MSM?!

Publicly they'll accuse Santorum of hypocrisy. Or something.

"Robert Traynham ... is widely respected and admired on Capitol Hill, both among the press corps and among the congressional staff, as a communications professional. Not only is Mr. Traynham an exemplary staffer, but he is also a trusted friend confidente to me and my family. Mr. Traynham is a valued member of my staff and I regret that this effort on behalf of people who oppose me has made him a target of bigotry in their eyes.
"It is entirely unacceptable that my staffs' personal lives are considered fair game by partisans looking for arguments to bolster my opponent's campaign. Mr. Traynham continues to have my full support and confidence as well as my prayers as he navigates this rude and mean spirited invasion of his personal life."
Santorum is a self serving HYPOCRITE!
His "personal life" is PUBLIC when you are in a PUBLIC position.
Defending a homosexual when you claim to be AGAINST their life style choice is disgusting when it BENEFITS you.
Disgusting.

How could he be "outed" if he was already
out"?

Does this mean he can now be a congressman from Massachussetts?
I think it's a pre-requisite.

When will the left realize that there are homosexuals who are conservative and do not support the militant homosexual agenda?
When you get right down to it, this is really no different than women who do not support radical feminism.

It's nobody's business if Santorum's aid is gay or not. Does he do a good job at his work? Santorum thinks so. That's all that matters.

And there won't be a word about Santorum's "tolerance" or "inclusiveness" either.
Republicans are never given credit for when they aren't bigots, always presumed that they are.

The senior spokesman for Sen. Rick Santorum, R- Pa., Friday confirmed to a web log that he is gay. And in other earth-shattering news, Elvis is still dead!
Geez...I thought the Liberal Media Elite thought people weren't supposed to make a big deal about other people being gay? Huh...hypocrisy. How common.

So you think Sen. Santorum should have a policy of not hiring homosexuals who are otherwise qualified to work for him, or he should fire any staffer who reveals himself or herself to be a homosexual? You think that would go over well with the people of Pennsylvania?

Exactly. I know many conservative Republicans who are homosexual, some are out of the closet and some aren't. Some of the biggest Republican lobbyists and fundraisers in Washington are homosexual. Some of you would be very surprised to know how many of them worked in the Reagan White House, and how many of today's current conservative leaders are homosexual. If we went on a witch hunt to get rid of them, we would not have much of a party infrastructure left.

What, exactly, is hypocritical here? Has Santorum at some point in the past condemned employing homos?

It's not Santorum who is "outed". It's a staff member who is apparently well qualified at his job.
If I'm a businessman, I hire the best person for the job. As long as he's not a criminal, I don't care about his personal life even though I may not agree with it. I care about his work for the senate office.
