The doctor is not 'hired' by Imus. The doctor is an unpaid volunteer that stays in bunkhouse.

In addition, Imus has some bizarre rules at the ranch.

Our policy forbids any mention of illness by ranch employees. The child life specialists, the doctors and nurses are responsible for addressing such issues when and if they come up.

See - http://msnbc.msn.com/id/3359675/

Why didn't Imus have the proper medicine for the child's pain and give his own "Vicodin" when the MSNBC website says:

The saloon (infirmary) has been designed, stocked, and staffed by the Hackensack University Medical Center. If you need special medical attention, but do not need to be hospitalized, there are two bedrooms in the saloon for you to stay in that are identical to those in the main ranch house (they are beautiful). All decisions on the status of your health, in these cases, will be made exclusively by the doctor. The ranch will ultimately do whatever is recommended, including flying your parents to the ranch, or you back home -- all at the ranch's expense.

This whole story is fishy as medical care and medicine is a supposed to be readily available not a 1/4 mile away.

How many nurses and doctors will the ranch be staffed with?

One doctor. One nurse. Two child life specialists. One or two EMT specialists.

What happened to the EMT's if it was an emergency?

Who are the medical staff?

The TCF and The Hackensack University Medical Center supply the medical staff personnel. When children sponsored by organizations other than TCF and Hackensack visit, the ranch itself will make arrangements for necessary medical personnel including child life specialists. The Emergency Medical personnel are supplied by the ranch and are licensed by the state of New Mexico.

Where is the closest hospital?
Santa Fe, New Mexico. 40 minutes by car.

If a medical emergency arises, will the infirmary be stocked with all necessary medications for each child? We have been assured by the TCF and The Hackensack University Medical Center that to the degree that it is practical and possible, it will be. Each group of children will be accompanied by doctors and nurses who they're familiar with. They are ultimately responsible for your medical well being and we have placed our trust in them, as have you.

Any idea where to find that study. Might be fun to give to a vegan buddy of mine. Otherwise he's a great guy, but he refuses to eat meat. Sick, just sick.

I tried to find it, but did not have it bookmarked. There are some articles about soy - tofu effect on brain shrinkage. Basically they had two groups, meat eating and vegetarians and after period of time they rescaned their brains and saw some shrinkage in the vegetarians. Also I think they commented that meat eating animals are smarter than vegetarian, chimpanzee vs. gorilla, etc.
I was 10 years vegetarian and it almost killed me. Thanks to Dr. Atkins I am back to life, just like turning the clock 10 years back, physically and mentally.
Imus could be an example of accelerated deterioration in the brain department, as many of his fans observed.

Who selects the doctors, nurses and child life specialists?

The Hackensack University Medical Center, the Tomorrows Children's Fund, The C.J. Foundation for SIDS and other organizations who send children to the ranch. The Imus Ranch ultimately reserves the final determination on the suitability of all personnel.

Guns?

All guns are under lock-and-key and protected by trigger locks. It is a cattle ranch in New Mexico and there are coyotes, mountain lions and wild dogs. Our only goal is to protect the children and we will be rigorously responsible in that effort.

The Harvard-trained doctor said he examined the girl and prescribed pain medication. But Imus later tracked him down and called him an "arrogant [expletive] who doesn't mind letting a child suffer."

He said Imus threatened him with a revolver and knife, saying, "I'll kick your [expletive] off my ranch."

This child was suffering all night and Mrs. Imus was applying oils on her body ( mentioned by Imus this morning.)

Thanks, I thought I was the only person who heard that. What kind of a nut case is she?

By the way, Imus stated that in his first hour but did not repeat it again in his second and third hour.
