The Old Testament instructed the Jews to kill certain peoples totally when they were at war. It did not tell them to kill 'unbelievers' carte blanche. It told them not to put up with false teaching and false prophets among themselves, yes, and not to intermingle closely (e.g. marriage, etc. in essence allowing strong influence on oneself) with unbelievers.

Why separate sutras for 'no friends among Jews and Christians', and another one for 'no friends among the non believers'? Could it be that in the Koran Jews and Christians are not included among the 'non believers'?

If the Taliban didn't have the numbers to force them to turn over the SEAL, then it would take a large number of Taliban to carry out any significant reprisals, and such a large number would draw a lot of attention from American forces (especially AC-130s).

Actually, there's a lot of Iraqi terrorists dieing at the hand of Iraqi police and commandos and being turned in by Iraqis with cellphones. I'm not quite a member of "kill 'em all," but close. However, we have Muslim friends and should cultivate more.

You should seriously consider setting up an agelimit for Freep membership.... allow only those above 21 years of age or atleast those having a college degree.

Maybe only 1% are terrorist, but at least 10% are sympathetic. Compare to any national military - how many are soldiers? How many are supporting them (taxes, etc.) How many Germans were Nazis and what did we (and the Soviets) do to spare the "good Germans?" (Hint: Approximately equal to zero.)

Anyway, if they manage to nuke the US, maybe we'll have to stop trying to sort 'em out (they sure as heck ain't makin' the sortin' easy). But until then, I suppose we can get by just trying to hunt the bad guys.

Many of the Jews in the death camps were nominally German. Just as the many Iranian youths are stuck in the mullah's Iran that they have turned into a death camp. We didn't indiscriminately round up and punish Germans after the war either, there were specific war crimes charged and specific Nazi's prosecuted. During the war we firebombed Dresden (and Kurt Vonnegut who was a POW in Dresden at the time)and I realize from this example that in a war sometimes you gotta "break a few eggs". But we didn't try to fight Germany without any allies, heck we even made nice with Uncle Joe Stalin (befriending one devil to kill another devil doesn't make you an angel doing the Lords work).
