"In British parlance, "sod" is a slang term for a homosexual (short for sodomite)"
Can't say I've ever heard it used in that sense.
That looks like an appropriate context.
You must live a sheltered life!
;^)
Okie dokie. I think The Who had an album titled Odds and Sods. Once again, I thought they were talking about dirt.
Maybe they were talking dirt, or it could be a double entendre. I've often wondered about that myself, especially in light of rumors that Pete Townshend is well, you know...
Have you seen the movie "Hope and Glory"? There is a scene where a group of young boys initiates another by having him say "bugger off you bloody sod". I guess that was the equivalent of saying "f*** off you f***ing ******".
Is that the pee wee herman special?
Looks nice though.
No, I never saw that movie. Very funny. Yeah, I've heard English people say bugger off in movies and things like that. Not much use for double entendres these days, with everything being in your face.
Good for the British!
Let's hope the group of anti bicycle trolls that tend to inhabit these threads don't go over there with their monster Ford Excursions equipped with trailer mirrors to see how many people they can run over.

Your wish is my command. :-)
They are available, yes, most definitely. Found this one with Google. There are tons of 'em listed on Google and Froogle. :-)
I have... and a fag is a cigarette. It's just a language thing.
Hey, I like it! It's the bicycle version of a '57 Chevrolet. Very retro.
Yeah, fag is very common, but I've completely missed sod being used in that way, must just be me!
I went out and read some of your other posts and found out you're a brit (Londoner?) Maybe it's just the brits that have migrated to this side of the pond that uses that 'soddy' language ;-)
