I seem to recall Ma Clinton's wandering hubby pardoning a whole flock of terrorists, who had killed NYPD officers, before he left office. She wasn't worried about terrorists then....
They'll champion large, pointless spending plans to feather their own political nests and to give them cover for the fact that, simultaneously, they do their level best to hamstring the government in its efforts to interrogate terrorists and develop the intelligence necessary to prevent such attacks. Just imagine how many American troops and innocent Iraqis would be alive today if our troops and intelligence agencies had been allowed to use effective interrogation against captured terrorists. When you're in a dirty war, you've got to use dirty methods. It's morally justifiable against terrorists because they've flushed any concept of humanity or morality down the drain.
Somehow I should have known this would have to do with increasing taxes and more government spending.
'Ol Shake and Bake Reno's TV camera would need one hell of an image stabilization device, probably more than even the best techs at Canon could provide.

How about you both zip it and stop enpowering the enemy. Why don't you both stop pointing out, during very public press conferences, what our weaknesses are, stop your treasonous talk and and give up on your quest to take down Pres. Bush even at the cost of harm to our country, our troops and our lives.

Here's a tip that will help get the job done without costing a single penny more: Eliminate the PC crap against PROFILING! Allow the obvious suspects to be apprehended, interrogated and incarcerated without fear of lawsuits for PROFILING!!!

Since Hillary and Chuck are so intent on spending money, I think somebody should introduce a Bill that would force each Congress critter to forfeit their salary for a year to fund the extra security needed to do the job.
I'm so flipping disillusioned with both sides of the aisle. Where's the outrage? Is there any? The Britons played our National Anthem at the changing of the guard the day after 9/11. Our Congress barely mustered a word of solidarity with the UK.
Does anything matter to these people anymore? Al Qaeda's still running around and they're trying to shut down GITMO. Un-flipping believable.
If the Clinton's and the Dems didn't wake up after the '93 WTC bombing, why would they'd wake up after 9/11?
Which is why you would concentrate so much money on just ONE area!
How about shopping malls, sports stadiums, large office buildings, cruise ships, bridges & tunnels, beaches, ski resorts, city streets, and other places where large numbers of people congragte?
Furthermore, offense is far better than defense. By keeping the enemy "on the run", we degrade his ability to conduct such acts.
Oh, I forgot, this would not entail pork for your pet projects at home.

You are quite right, but, this reminded me of something I heard on CNN International yesterday evening (Europe time).
The commentatorette was mentioning exactly that, but used the words "shocked" and "surprised". I found it, at the time, to be a quite innappropriate use of the words. In disgust I switched off. (I know, CNNi is horrible, but there is no choice for me).
IIRC, the statement went, more or less *** I am shocked and suprised that there were not more casualties ***
I can understand surprise on it's own (expressing amazment) but "shocked" (expressing disappointment)??
I have not been able to get that statement off my mind . . .
