Prediction: I'll get flamed as a "DU provacateur" for advocating that we go after somebody who killed 3000-plus people on American soil. Who says we are not?

What would we do with him if we caught him? That wouldn't stop the terror war. And a thousand liberal lawyers would be filing lawsuits and demanding a "trial" and God knows what else. It would be a three ring circus, complete with claims of torture and Koran abuse.
I kinda like him holed up in a cave where he can't do much harm.

Your implication that this government and the United States military are somehow overlooking bin Laden, or even worse that they are blase' about finding him ignores the facts of our operations in and around Afghanistan and demonstrates either a willing ignorance or an inability to grasp the reality of the situation.
I second your desire to capture/kill this man, but I do not for a moment think that the efforts to do so are in less than a top level priority.
The fact that the media chooses not to cover the operations being conducted on a daily basis against Taliban and Al Qaeda assets in the Afghanistan/Pakistan theater does not relive you of your responsibility to ascertain the facts before making such a bold assertion.

"I was lectured on Freerepublic that I was supposed to "feel safer" because we captured Saddam -- even though there's no evidence that he was behind 9-11."
Why on God's green earth do you think one necessarily follows the other? Let's see, what's an analogy?
"I was lectured that I was supposed to "feel safer" because my psychotic neighbor with three AK 47s, a box of hand grenades, and a flame thrower was arrested -- even though there's no evidence that he was behind the holocaust."
Yeah, that's pretty close.

I was lectured that I was supposed to "feel safer" because they killed Mussolini -- even though there's no evidence that he was behind Pearl Harbor. I was mocked when Hitler died, even though he never used weapons of mass destruction. Tojo is the guy that Roosevelt promised to get "dead or alive" -- but four years later, he's still out there, free as a jail bird.
Maybe it's time to refocus on the mastermind and culprits who were behind pearl Harbor?
Prediction: I'll get flamed as a "Bushbot" for drawing a historical analogy.

Going by your handle i will put this into terms you may understand. How long did it take the allies to get Hitler? oh that is right we did not actually get him but a 6 year war and we KNEW where he was. Oh and we ignored Italy and Japan to get to the German leader right? oh no that is right we defeated them too.

Just a few questions.
Did WWII end by assassinating Hitler or Hirohito or his generals?
What makes you think there are not twenty bin Laden's waiting in the wings to take their turn in the lead?
Do you believe that the terrorist do what they do because of bin Laden?
Do you think the locals in Madrid or London could only take action because of bin Laden?
Killing or capturing bin Laden will be a significant point but a minor one in the long run and being successful does not require it. His death or capture, at any time, will cause a blip, not a ripple, in Al Queda.
This war will be a long one and it will only dwindle in size and extremity when nations with Muslim majorities quit producing enough new recruits for any "bin Laden".
The longer the war goes on, the greater are the conditions for that to happen, because, as in Iraq, the terrorists have to turn on the very people they claim to be fighting for. Their terrorism eventually undermines them among the people they need to draw from.
That is why their only hope is that the west will have enough John Kerry's in it so that the west will succumb to the psychology of being "worn down" before the terrorists do.
Just as with Vietnam, the real war is psychological and 100% based on getting the west to quit and leave the terrorists to install a middle-east wide caliphate (theocratic state), like an international Taliban. All they need is enough John Kerry's to convince the west to quit the fight in Iraq, in Afghanistan and everywhere else.
