I just checked out you homepage and noticed the picture of James Stockdale. As you may know, we lost him today. I just thought I would tell you something that the news seems to have missed; He was from a small town just a few miles from where I grew up. He had an older cousin, Robert Dunlop, who was also an CMH recipient for action on Iwa Jima. Cousins from a town of a couple of thousand, both with the CMH. Bobby was a friend and neighbor of my family and he passed on about five years ago. I got to meet Adm. Stockdale and another CMH recipient at the funeral. I felt like I was on holy ground with the three around me.
