I'm popping corn in anticipation of this meltdown...before anybody is even named! I love Rove dropping hints it'll be Gonzo (it won't), too.

didn't some Democrats get caught up in the legal system for eavesdropping on calls of Republican congressmen including Newt Gringrich? Isn't this against the law?

This is where I think conservatives are wrong to keep abortion a political issue.
I am pro-life, do not get me wrong. Overturning Rowe v Wade will do nothing for the big picture. It may reduce the number of abortions sought in this country, but not significantly.
The abortion issue needs to be dealt with by changing hearts, not laws.
The dems will win almost everytime as long as we let them define any issue in terms of abortion.

For intercepting transmissions using listening devices. When the "listening device" is your own ear and the interception occurred because some dope is talking loudly into his cell phone in a public space, well, I don't think the law would consider that in the same category as intercepting an electronic transmission.

Not if that's how they got the info.

Actually, just monitoring (electronically) a cellphone conversation is against the law--that's why all of the scanners produced since the late 80's have the cellphone frequencies blocked. Then how did that sweet old couple intercept Newt's cell phone conversation and tape it?

Schumer went on to say how hard it was to predict how a Supreme Court justice would turn out: Even William Rehnquist is more moderate than they expected. The only ones that resulted how they predicted were [Antonin] Scalia and [Ruth Bader] Ginsburg. So most of the time they've gotten their picks wrong, and that's what we want to do to them again. Bump for the need-to-be-informed
