and I miss the head coach dressed for the game , jacket and tie , some with their favorite hat , oh it was GRAND , right?

Head Coach Mike Nolan wants to dress up for NY Giants games in a jacket and a tie but the league forbade him from doing that because NFL has a deal with Reebok.

That's a shame cuz coaches look like crap nowadays.

I was there those years...

I remember going to a Saints game, geez, a long time ago and on the way out of the clobbering, at the hands of the 49ers, I saw Stram stalking out (I assume he was there in a commentary capacity) -- still with the rolled-up paper -- and a stern look on his face. For some reason he liked the Saints organization and was just as frustrated as all the fans at the way Joe Montana handed Bum Phillips that particular humiliating defeat.

Wow. Surprised he was that old.

Hell, I'm surprised I'm THIS old!

However, R.I.P., he was a good 'un.

Stram was ALWAYS a gentleman. Likely the last of a rare breed.

Speaking of "rare breed," another gentleman named Rich Upchurch (used to play for Denver, now coaches high school football locally) does something here in Pueblo, CO, annually (thought I'd mention it), with Christian youth in the area. It's sort of a football boot camp for kids.

Last year, every other helper at the camp had a Super Bowl ring except poor Mr. Upchurch; Dwight Hicks, Ron Egloff and several other champions.

Here is the link to the organization: Rare Breed.

I know how many altruistic people there are here at this site. This organization deserves your support. My kids attended this event last year and are doing so again this year. I recommend it highly. I think Mr. Stram would as well.
