Is this on the level? I mean, seriously...? :)
Those caps sound pretty disgusting to me too. I've never liked seeing baggy pants either. The only ones who did that when I was growing up where the "pillow people."
I have seen some conservatives be hesitant to have government intervene too much in controlling what people wear though.
As a "fixer" of broken jewelry this freeper can say first hand "yes it is"!!
I had a customer that had a "cap", (10kt) that covered both his front top middle teeth. From him NOT taking the darn things out when he ate, he wore thru the bottom of the cap, making it loose the strength to stay on his teeth.
....I had to solder those dang things THREE DIFFERENT TIMES !!.....( and not that it makes much of a difference, but this person was white, TRYING to be "hip-hop" like "Lil' Jon".....)
Well, since any church is the arbiter of morals for only its membership, perhaps a better start would be prohibiting visible underwear and precious-metals dental work on its congregation.
Me, I think they'd get farther with the former than the latter. A gold tooth is far less offensive to me than airbrushed Dragon Lady fingernails bearing 76ers logos.
I mean, you can't accidentally stab me with your teeth, no matter how hard you try.
I live in Jacksonville.. if this passes, Churches will burn. Thats not a threat, I'm just sure there's enough anger at the constant way the Southern Baptist Church tries to run the city that it would snap the second something so blatantly racist got passed...
You already can't wear hats in the mall because they got away with the bandanna ban, so they went for backwards hats, and then all hats...
9/10 Clubs and bars get shut down or denied a liquor liscense because of proximity to a church...
I seriously wish they WOULD push their limits on something like this and watch the political backlash bury their cause..
When I was a teenager adults didnt like to see DA haircuts, T-shirts (with cigarette pack rolled up in sleeve) worn as outer garb, blue jeans, or side burns, saying they promote a thuggish image.
Get rid of them invisible tatt
oos above all.
Where are the parents?
I like the idea of wearing you pants low and showing your underwear and the cap backwards too. It lets you know immediately who not to hire and points out the idiots quickly. Its like wearing a sign that says " Look at me , I am stupid".
Evidently! I saw a tidbit on the news last night.

I say just sneak up behind them and pull their pants down. Coppertone tan police...LOL
A Baptist church? Big surprise.
Maybe we can ban just certain people from wearing exposed underwear.
I don't like baggy pants or gold teeth either.
So let's ban them.
Do people really think this will make a difference in how the kids turn out? What brilliant lawmakers we have. How about banning lousy parenting instead? Or maybe banning people who refuse to blame lousy parenting and look to banning irrelevant symbols instead?
LOL! My now deceased father would have been arrested if such a law existed here.......
That's a very silly proposal.
Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye make clean the outside of the cup and of the platter, but within they are full of extortion and excess. Math 23:25
First they came for the BLING.
Apparently there are a variety of looks depending on which gang is involved, and it can include wearing a lot of red clothing, or blue, (imagine wearing a set of red sweat clothes in 90 degree weather), wearing caps backwards or to one side, tying shoelaces to one side--all sorts of silly looking things, depending on which gang is represented.
It got sufficiently bad that the administration banned caps, was careful about clothing colors, and even suspended, or so I heard, pep rallies due to concerns about gangs. It appears to be a growing problem.
"A church has asked for a citywide ban on low-hanging pants and gold-capped teeth"
Kent-doggie: Read our lips. Repeat after me: That ain't news. You ain't a reporter. Stop typing, turn off the computer, and go outside and play.
The only thing offensive to me is the government trying to tell people how they can wear their teeth and clothes. Anyone who doesn't see this as gross violation of idividual rights in not a conservative, or a libertarian for that matter. If you don't like the way someone looks, look the other way and leave them alone.
How about this for a novel solution. The city can confiscate the offending 'property' for a public benefit.
