Wow! Dolly, absolutely spectacular!!
I need to run my MIL to the hair dresser and then out to lunch. Hope to be able to spend some time here between then and leaving for the rally in FResno.

So many errors, so many problems across the time and ongoing experiment of America, and so many practicing that disbelief Kossuth feared. Yet, whatever our self-loathing, it comes of the demands our Fathers made upon us. It was a cruel thing, this, to give us freedom and self-government, and we have tried and keep trying to ruin it. It is so demanding, so unrelenting, so thoroughly right that even we today cant screw up enough to kill it. It guides us, it makes us, and it is us and all that we do. We might see the end in the last or the next election, court decision, regulation, tax, or global event. If we didnt want 1776 so badly, we wouldnt care, and for it we carry on the fight, in the ongoing process of making the nation, launched in 1789. For me a saddest day was when little Elian was returned to Castros Cuba -- McKinley betrayed, and Lady Liberty lowered her torch. It was just one kid, good friends told me, and his father ought to have him. Ill remember it always, and cry. But I cry not just for what Elian lost, but for what we could have had in him in the affirmation of America. These are tears of resolve and faith. So, dear Kossuth, we yet believe in our fundamental principles. We stray, yes, but we believe, and we are hard on ourselves for it. Oh glorious Fourth of July, 1776, by which all things of mans realm are ever since measured.
Tears and Cheers!
Bravo!

Some where around here I have the best recipe in the world for Hush Puppies ~ it's from the kitchen of a stage coach stop over here in Texas. They are to die for!! Whenever I make these fabulous little morsels everyone crowds around my deep fryer and eats them as fast as I can get them out! lol
I'll look and see if I can locate it! If I can, I'll post it for y'all!

You have outdone yourselves, Sisters! This is an awesome, soul-stirring page.
Let's start by noting that our current President's birthday is just two days after Independence Day, July 6!!
My mother grew up on a farm in Nebraska and 4th of July was always the biggest celebration of the year, bigger than Christmas. They had parades, picnics, speeches, games for the kids and so on. My mother always loved the American flag, and I inherited that passion from her.
As a child, I remember the wonderful fireworks displays at the Los Angeles Coliseum. This year, I'll go to Culver City, which has a great celebration and fireworks show.
I work in a large hospital and I love my job. Praise God. More than that, I am devoted to our troops and send letters and packages to our dear deployed soldiers. This 4th of July, more than ever, I feel such pride in our armed forces and in our country.
Ros42 is my very good friend, so be nice to her or else!
GOD BLESS THE U.S.A.!!! GOD BLESS OUR TROOPS!!!

Thank you so much for visiting today and sharing a bit of your life. (I also LOVE your profile page). It is so nice when men and women FReepers share a bit of their soul & you do so very eloquently in both of those I saw a few minutes ago. And especially the origin of your screenname. I am always trying to guess, "where did they come up with that?". On my page I use pix (and I am not too creative like you!)

LOVE IT (backatcha).. I never knew the origin of that pix.. I have it stashed away..and think I may have used it memorial day at the tread & at our church power point , which I did.
Thanks E-M_B!!! We of course know that the pix we see daily here are REAL men & women.. but to have a name & more info, is for me ideal.

To any/all Canadians or folks who love Canada - as I do.. please help me in honoring our neighbors to the North.
Freeper Dan Lacey AKA Faithmouse , has done this original design for FRee Dominion ~ which is Canada's equivalence to FRee Republic.
We are so glad that Dan has agreed to share his original work with us here on occasion. Be back Monday, as he will post his 4th of July offering.
