Sometimes GOA strikes me like they're going off the deep end, but I will agree with the notion that there is way too much legislating on on. I thought Lopez struck down the nonsense about firearms within 1000 feet of schools.

That's because the GOA is totally opposed to any and all gun-grabbing legislation.

I googled 18 U.S.C. 922(q) and found UNITED STATES v. LOPEZ

What's the average joe supposed to think?

The GOA is a great organization. I belong to them and the NRA. We can't have too many groups protecting our rights.

A divided U.S. Supreme Court ruled in U.S. v. Lopez, that Congress exceeded its authority when it enacted the Gun-Free School Zones Act. The law passed in 1990, forbids possession of a firearm within 1,000 feet of a school. (18 U.S.C. ß922(q)(1)(A).)

I was referring to GOA's choice of words, not their intention to uphold the RKBA.

So what happens if you live within 1000ft of a school? You have you 2nd amendment rights taken away?

Sometimes articles posted entirely in bold type bother my eyes so I don't read them.

How in the world does Congress think it has standing or jurisdiction in these matters? If I brandish a firearm, how does that affect interstate commerce or any other legal point of insertion of the feds?

I suppose I can answer the question myself--in their minds, and in the minds of members of the lawless USSC, everything is their business.

Well, as long as it's Republicans trampling all over our rights rather than Democrats, I guess it's OK.

So what's with Kohl's "gun-free-school-zone" amendment (18 U.S.C. 922(q))"?

The gun-grabbers never stop trying to pass laws that they know are unconstitutional, hoping to get a Supreme Court with a strong group of liberal dingbats like we have now.

They play the theme "It's For the Children!" like it is their be-all and end-all, but when it comes to real measures like the death penalty for those harm children, then the lefties squeal "Let 'Em Out, Quickly!"

That's how GOA posted it. I just copied the source code without modification. Here's the URL:

Get used to it people, we're all criminals free only at the whim of the government.

Not breaking any laws right now? Wait five minutes and they'll write one just for you.

I thought Lopez struck down the nonsense about firearms within 1000 feet of schools.

How would that affect home owners who live by schools?
