""Once you become a prisoner of war, they may decide to rape you rather than torture you in some other way," said Johnson. "But I'm at risk of rape in Washington, D.C., and not for a noble mission, just because I am female."

I'm all for women in the military as long as it's understood that the two are different and posses unique strengths and weaknesses.

"Serving in the military is a right of American citizenship,

It not a right, it's a priviledge.

Not to mock you, but I am all for women in the military, but the training standards should be set the same for both men and women so that arguements like yours are irrelevant.

The prospect of a male POW being raped is arguably worse than for a female.

War, said Johnson, makes no gender distinctions.

Yes it does. A unit made up almost entirely of women will suffer heavier casualties than one made entirely of men.

I saw a History Channel program about snipers and they interviewed a surviving Russian female sniper. In the course of the interview, it was revealed that the Soviet female sniper units had about a 75% KIA rate in WWII. No indication was given for male units but 75% in WWII on the Eastern Front seems not too bad imo.

Yeah, I'm all for equality for equals and being equal in everything equally too. Unfortunately, every nation that implements this kind of equality has discarded it. Seems that those damn irrelevancies are hard to overcome. Oh well, I'm sure NOW will provide me with some better arguments to persevere with some equity in this debate.

I wouldn't mind some career paths being designated from the get-go as non-combat. Even with the current gender separate training standards, a male recruit may have a great brain but lack the physical ability to complete the regular training expected of males but could pass the training expected of females. If he can qualify under a lesser physical standard, he'll still be able to perform a vital role in a logistics or support group somewhere.

So, why not give him a change to qualify under the female standards?

They fought from their homes against an unprepared and languishing German Army. Things become much more complicated when a military unit is deployed to the other side of the planet. After serving with women in law enforcemnt, I definitely would not want to deploy with women in a combat unit.

There goes any and all promotions for you! Seems to be a given that men who speak out about actual negative experiences with women in law enforcement or the military are penalized if the dare speak out.

To my knowledge only country to do that was Isreal in the 60's and it was never fully implimented before it was discarded.

That was over 40 years ago in a different culture, without the technology and tactics we have today.

LOL, the irony is that I like having them around to look at and talk to. They are also great at administrative tasks. However, when it comes the physical tasks of apprehending suspects I'd much rather have men assisting me.

The nation known as former Soviets do not maintain front line female combat troops either. China, of course, has no need. Only desparate nations, like the former Soviet Union, are pushed to this dire extreme. Well, that and nations under the control of social utopians. The simple facts of the bell curve should demonstrate the expense and futility of pursuing cultural myth as objective reality.

I wouldn't either in a traditional combat unit but there are plenty of non-traditional combat units where a woman should do fine. Flying a UAV is a combat role, even though the operator may be safely on a base in the US.

Ghengis Khan had women warriors in his military. And his military conquered Asia and half of Europe.

Are you against has the same set training standard in the military for both men and women? I can understand why, because it would kill you arguement, and such standards would weed out the weaker women, but keep the stronger women who would be able to do the job without question.

Not to mock you while you're mocking us.

Do you have any filings that are'nt anti-war tirades?

Oh well, at least you're earning your keep...for the Anti-US forces.

Good Job!
