Thanks for this post. I said this was utilitarianism. Just like with Terri Schiavo.

In college, one of the subjects we studied in Economics class was the concept of utility. It is not a difficult concept, it is simply a method by which one can compare the expected benefits of one choice over another.

Follow up ping.

If I understand you correctly you are essentially saying communism is a centralized from of government that takes power from the individual and transfers it to the select few who run the government. I couldn't agree more with you on that point but that is stating merely the obvious. Our founding fathers were aware of this when they ratified the Constitution in 1789. They sought to decentralize the government by giving power to the individual.

Unfortunately we have been incrementally and very gradually been moving away from the Constitution and towards a centralized government. The New London ruling did not suddenly render the Constitution null and void. This process has been occurring for many decades if not longer. The ruling is one more step towards rendering the Constitution irrelevant.

You repeatedly cite an equation confirming Communism is more efficient than Democracy yet you fail to cite the equation or the proof the equation is correct. I could just as easily say I have an equation Capitalism is more efficient than Communism but until I offer proof it is only a theory at best.

I may not have the knowledge concerning economics you possess but I can't help be amazed how produce can be transported so quickly from Florida or California to my local grocery store in Connecticut that it is still fresh when it arrives. It is hard to imagine before the fall of Communism in the Soviet Union (not Russia) was more efficient giving the USSR had no interstate system, an aging fleet of planes and trains. I doubt the news accounts of food shortages and people standing in lines for hours just to buy a pound of meat were an aberration.
