The daily carnage [in Iraq] speaks volumes.

The insurgents are reduced to murdering Iraqi civilians, rather than attacking our military. It's more a matter of murder now than war.

And I very much doubt the murder rate in Iraq is any worse than the murder rate in Washington D.C....

I am SO in love with you Mark Steyn. Please send your brain over for the weekend.

Tough question: who do we enjoy more, Mark Steyn or Ann Coulter?

nobody with the power to do anything right ever does.

I guess that depends on your POV. IMO, Bush and Howard are both doing the right things. They can't do everything, but they're both doing as much as they can.
Would that the electorates in both countries make sure we have leaders like that for years to come.

A riposte to Mark Steyn in one line: "What conservatives do defines them just as what liberals feel defines them." That is the difference in outlook between the two philosophies.

(Denny Crane: "Sometimes you can only look for answers from God and failing that... and Fox News".)

they launched comprehensive studies to develop a comprehensive development study for holding meetings on developing more comprehensively a framework for studying the development of further meetings.

Hey! They sound like the VPs where I work! Except here, it mostly keeps them out of the way so those of us who work for a living can get something done. I don't think it quite works that way on an international level.

It's not so much that "nobody with the power to do anything right ever does."

It's more that a few nitwits put huge obstacles in their way. For example, from Claire Short;

‘Only really the UN can do that job. It is the only body that has the moral authority.’

As long as some people are willing to make any outrageous statement to further a political agenda at any cost, the work of the people trying to move forward will be impeaded.

It's just part of the process.
