When you look in the eyes of the soldiers you see your son and daughter. They are the best. I never, ever intended any disrespect for them.”

Bullshit. Nice apology, but somethings simply aren't fixed by an apology

Senator Durbin, only your resignation would be an appropriate response to what you said and how you damaged the reputation of the Senate and put our troops in harm's way.

He was apologizing for people being so stupid they didn't understand what he first said.

What an oily son-of-a-bitch enemy agent this parasitical dole-mooching totalitarian political hack always was is and always will be.

This is not by any measure and apology and even if it was it would fall far short of what must be demanded of Turbin:

Nothing short of his immediate resignation or failing it his immediate expulsion from our nation's senate will come come even close to what must happen if his aid and comfort to America's and Civilization's deadly enemies are not to be reinforced by this ongoing shameful bloody charade!

I guess the LDS wore off.

You must be thinking of Orrin Hatch.

Yeap ~ your intentions and innermoist feelings were made crystal clear, durbin!
Crystal clear, indeed!

"His apology should be a one-way ticket to Havana, with no return. "

You think he needs a trip to Gitmo?!?! I'd have more respect for him if he got on a plane and went there to make his apology to the GREAT men and women he offended.

Of course, it wouldn't take much for me to have "more respect" for that dirtbag. Hopefully my state can put up a good conservative candidate to run against him. He needs to be removed.

He's only apologizing to those who were offended.

Whatever happened to: "Geez, that stunk...what I said was wrong....etc"

Pretty much nails it.

What is the matter with Illinois that they elect this Clymer?

Did he apologize for trying to damage the war effort, our soldiers, and our CIC, with boots on the battlefield?

No.

He wants us to lose, he wants the American public in a funk, he wants recruitment down, and he wants the terrorists in Iraq to win.

And for that he can burn in hell.

“Some may believe that my remarks crossed a line. To them, I extend my heartfelt apologies.”

That wasn't an apology. It was another non-apology apology. If he'd wanted to apologize, he'd have said:

"My remarks crossed a line, and an odious one. I sincerely apologize."

Dick Durbin slandered U.S. Marines and American intelligence agents at Guantanimo by accusing them of acting like Nazis, Soviets, and the Kmher Rouge. Not once in his so-called "apologies" did he retract that accusation, not once. Because of his failure to admit that he was wrong, the U.S. Senate must formally rebuke Durbin. Failing to do that means the Senate accepts his accusations, now on the official record, without formally rejecting them.

[His scribblers must all be as bloody stupid as he is to believe we'd cop to this idiot-arrogant-elitist's non-apology]

Looks like an actual real apology to me, and I'm pretty critical. I'm impressed.

But I'd be a hell of a lot more impressed if his BEHAVIOR ever matched these words! Any clown can read a prepared script - prove that you mean it, Senator!

“On June 14, I took the floor of the Senate to speak about genuine heartfelt concerns about the treatment of prisoners and detainees at Guantanamo and other places.

Yeah, right. Like all touchy feely liberals, it was his "feelings" he was vocalizing. That's their problem, they always feel, but never think.

This is BS, all these crapweasels ever really think about is getting their power back. They don't really care about any of the groups they claim to care about, they just use them to get their votes to get/remain in office so they can control our lives and make us live the way they feel we should.

I noticed at DU they apparently having no prohibitions against use of the F-word. I guess that's because without it they have no way of expressing themselves precisely.
