My father taught me everything that was listed in your post....including the bullets AND a gun. Now THAT'S a good daddy. :)

I got a new panic button over the weekend. The bad guy will be the one feeling most of the panic however.

Yeppers, that ought to do it! LOL I figure my bear gun (12 ga.) should put the fear of God in anyone bent on doing me harm. I remember my dad telling me that if I ever had some nut trying to hurt me I shouldn't try to act calm, and I wouldn't even have to load my gun. He said nothing would ward off a bad man more than a hysterical woman with a gun. LOL Of course he wasn't saying I shouldn't load it, he was just making the point that a calm woman with a gun is less likely to actually point and shoot than a hysterically crazed woman.

He taught me to shoot when I was knee-high to a grasshopper.

Stories like this make my blood boil. Yes, there WAS something she could have done, but the laws in place to supposedly deter criminals like the piece of garbage who killed her and the backwards attitude of law enforcement appointees toward citizens arming themselves helped seal her fate. And what's worse, even if someone had suggested to her that she get a gun and learn how to use it, chances are that she may have been so brainwashed by all the anti-rights crap that the media happily pushes along as undisputed fact that she would have been too afraid to take that option, regardless of the threat against her.

And then the anti-rights idiots have the nerve to say that gun rights groups have blood on their hands? This woman died because of gun control laws put in place by disinformation. Let's see them try washing that off.

When are people going to understand that many women are victims of crimes from rapes, muggings to domestic violence and need to protect themselves. It would be a great platform for the feminists and for the better protection of women. I wonder what their true agenda really is?

LI Cops Nab Man Who Allegedly Killed His Ex-Girlfriend
Police Bust 34-year-old Marlon Fann

Jun 24, 2005 2:23 pm US/Eastern
NEW YORK (AP) Nassau County police say they’ve arrested the man wanted for shooting to death a woman in New Cassel, Long Island.

Police say 34-year-old Marlon Fann was arrested yesterday at an apartment in Jamaica, Queens. Nassau Police say - their officers along with the NYPD went to the second floor apartment. As they were about to enter the apartment, Fann jumped out the second floor window and tried to run. He was caught on the street by police.

He’s charged with second-degree murder, criminal contempt and possession of a weapon.

Police say he shot and killed a former girlfriend - 23-year-old Merline Port Louis on June 18th, and had threatened to get her mother and daughter.

The dead woman’s family had postponed her funeral for fear that Fann would strike the family when they were gathered at the service.

Family members say the dead woman was afraid of her ex-boyfriend and wore a panic alert button because he violated an order of protection on a regular basis since being released from prison on April 15th.

He served three years for slashing Merline Port-Louis with a knife.

To enforce the law in their job. There is no law that says they are legally obligated to protect you.

Isn't Queens really the beginning part of long island?

"Isn't Queens really the beginning part of long island?"

Yes, Queens and Brooklyn are the very western end of long island. I'd have to look at a map, Brooklyn seems to end by the sea and not really border Nassua county at all, I could be wrong. But Queens flows quite easily into Long Island "proper", Little Neck (part of NYC) and Great Neck (Nassau Co.) being a good example. Culturally Queens is a lot more "Long Island" than Brooklyn, Brooklyn is just unique.
