Been a long time seince we've heard from A+Bert.
If there is anything less funny than the running FR gag regarding "beebers" and "stuned", I do not know what it is.
Only "all your base are belong to us" comes close.
If you want to check my bonafides, review my FR posting history. You'll see I don't have a history of pranks or responding to myself to foment discussion, especially about wacky stuff like this! I really did see this thing coming into the atmosphere, my husband really did see it for quite a lot longer and more than me because I was down here trying to post to FR (had to turn on computer, wait for the cable hookup, virus checks, etc., takes about eight minutes from the minute of turing on my computer to actually being able to post online). By the time I got the first post done, it had been more like 20 minutes (husband says half hour, but I think he's off) since he first spotted it (he was on the phone talking to his daughter and gazing out at the sunset), and by the time I was posting "to myself" to add more info, it was over Sacramento. Going very, very fast, and very, very high.

perhaps it's people bitching about the running gag about stuned beebers. :) wet. blanket.
"...but I think he's off..."
My wife says that about me, too.
Now THAT was a weird thread. Good ol' CGEB....
No she doesn't.
Area 151 ???
relax finny. it's a slow night, and we're just having a little fun with ya.
I believe you. People are just having fun on a slow night.
Don't start that again.

lol! empty 151.
burning dinner, wasn't it?
No. I distinctly remember they were ordering pizza. Check post #25:
"Got to go order pizza now, but will check back."
Very very fast, huh? Right...
It also sounds vaguely familiar... did you just move from Maine?

No, no other upsdates. Sorry. By the time I was finally able to post here, it had gone so far north it was out of sight. It was so high on my husband's first spotting it (he was on the phone to his daughter and snapped his fingers at me to come see, whence I got out the binoculars) that it looked like a comet in that it looked like it was staying still. It was that far away, that high. Then I got the binoculars and could see the forked tail. It looked controlled, not at all like a flight of rock or something. And it did NOT disappear from burning out, like a meteor. Instead, it gently changed course from northwest to north and remained visible (at least, setting sun reflecting off the vapor or whatever it was that created the twin-forked tail remained visible) until it dropped below the horizon. Which was why I was so urgently posting, even to myself, to alert anyone north to grab some binocs and look for it.
It really sounds like it was quite a sight. Did the contrail stay intact for a long time?
Cookies to whomever can place that quote!
Glad I'm not the only one who picked up on that. Must have forgotten to switch screen names.
See my post 103, please. :^)
