"Keep your friends close, and keep your enemies closer."
Keeping the UN in the USA affords better surveillance and influence over America's enemies. If the UN went elsewhere, then we'd have to spend gobs of money re-tapping phones, computers, cars, and homes while tracking international criminals and terrorists fund raisers in some other country instead of our own back yard.
What would happen if the UN left America?
Where would the UN go? To one of our Allied nations?
What if the UN relocated in China? How long will it take for a relocated UN to declare open war on the USA and all of our Allies?
How would our intelligence agents be able to tap and track our nation's and Allies' enemies in a country like China, Russia, Saudi Arabia, etc....because let's face it, if the UN gets booted out of America, then these swindling professional politicians would seek comfort in our most polarized political opposites.

LOL! I love your attitude problem also. Could you just imagine the size of the cow that Chirac and Schroeder would have if we pulled out. If I could be in the room with them when they were told of our withdrawal maybe I would be willing to change my position. :*)

If I could be in the room with them when they were told of our withdrawal maybe I would be willing to change my position. I admire your bravery. The last place I would ever want to be is in the same room with either one of those vipers.
Seriesly ... I do not understand how you can still support the UN. Do you support One World Order? Do you think it is okay for UN laws to supersede ours? Do you believe the International court should legally be allowed to arrest our top government officials?
I am not being rude ... I honestly do not understand.

No, I don't support the UN...I hate that organization. I find it actually kind of scary. But I think we can stop some if not most of their nonsense by maintaining our membership.
We protect ourselves with our veto power. We also have had to use our veto to protect Israel from sanctions on more than one occasion.
I would love to leave as I think of the UN as a corrupt nest of anti-American, well, asps.
I know that my position is not popular and I know also that you are not trying to rude. Your questions are quite valid. I believe in keeping my friends close and my enemies closer. If it were up to me I would seal our borders, expel all of the illegals, and suspend all foreign aide. It really is time for Americans to worry about America. Regards, ASP

The UN has always lacked real power and has, at best only had quasi-legitimacy. It's best action was to oppose North Korean aggression into South Korea. Moving the UN into territory of the free world's ideological opposites would strengthen our adversaries' morale the same way as how a man named John Kerry aided and supported America's war time enemies.
Thus, it's best to keep the UN where we can best monitor it. It would be far better to keep this institution (even in all of its present vileness) from dissolving (and leaving crimes unanswered) or far worse, moving to another location. Keeping the UN in America keeps these criminals imprisoned under our watchful eye.
And let's be honest, shall we, holding UN members accountable for their actions is a little bit fun...I think so, don't you? :-)

Thanks ASP, for your honesty and pointing out some very good thoughts...you have given me reason to ponder this a bit more. For one thing, I had not considered Israel in the equation. I am a strong supporter and defender of her.
I certainly agree with you on your other points, most specifically, Americans worrying about America. The world has become a frightening place to be. I appreciate your time in explaining your position. I only wish I had not been away for so long today.

One of the reasons that I love this forum is that we can exchange thoughts and ideas. I think I have learned more here in the past few years than I ever learned in school. Of course I pay more attention here than I ever did in school! LOL!
As for Israel, I'm a strong supporter of her also. That little country has so much courage and determination to survive. There are so many out there that want Israel's destruction. It is a great source of anger to me that it is not left in peace.
Don't apologize for being away. I had to leave for a while myself. Hubby requested lasagna for his big day. The kids were here as was the grandpuppy. All in all I think that hubby had a great Father's Day. :*)

One of the reasons that I love this forum is that we can exchange thoughts and ideas. I feel the same way. At times I feel it is the only thing that keeps me sane. That is assuming of course that I was sane to start with! LOL
I think I have learned more here in the past few ... Months for me.
There are so many out there that want Israel's destruction.
Just as it was written. That of course does not keep us from becoming outraged at the injustice to the country and her people.
Glad to hear you and yours had a nice day. Please pass the lasagna...is there garlic bread? ;*)

Welcome newbie! hehe! Actually I lurked for quite awhile before joining. FR and Rush were the two things that helped me emerge from the horrible Clinton years relatively unscathed. My son turned me on to Rush back in '92 after he noticed that I was looking a little politically depressed. :^) It helped a lot. Then I found FR after being booted from Lucianne.com. (LOL, I was naughty!) FR is much more comfortable to me. Some times I go for weeks at a time without making any comments. It is more important to me to know what others are thinking. Or perhaps it is keeping quiet and letting others wonder if I am a fool or opening my mouth and removing all doubt. LOL! Whatever, this is home.
A little off topic I know, but what do you think of Hillary's chances? I lived in New York when she ran for the senate. Honestly, I never dreamed that she would win.
I hope you had a great Sunday, and yes tons of garlic bread , that's why I sent every one home early! :^)

Thanks for the welcome. I lurked for several months before registering. It just seemed I always came back here. I feel safe here. A dear friend, like a mom really, told me I needed to listen to Rush last October. I finally did and can't wait for 12:00 tomorrow. I plan my day around him.
I was completely and totally apolitical until I saw an ad for johnFRAUDsKerry last spring. I became political in the EXTREME very quickly. I went from coast to coast exposing him to any one that would listen, and even those that wouldn't!
What do I think her royal heinousness chances are? Zip, zilch, nada, and not a chance in he!!. I want to regurgitate every time I see her name, face, hear her voice......but I digress. If you need reasons for that opinion, I will have to FReepmail you.
I love your sense of humor!

So he will be commissioned next summer, after he completes Air Assualt school. I believe he goes to OCS after that, probably in the fall.Ok, so he's ROTC. He'll get commissioned as a result of that, and then he'll go to OBC (Officer Basic Course) for whatever field he's in (infantry, armor, etc.). Just to clarify, OCS (Officer Candidate School) is for enlisted who want to turn officer, or for college seniors/grads who want to become commissioned officers (ROTC eligibility ends some time in your junior year).
What field does he want to go in to? Do you know?

Throw them OUT. The money we waste supporting this PIT, can be better used strengthening America and with a more Effective CIA. Under the UN they are Organized and WE are paying for it.
The AID programs we support are not as effective as if WE organized and manned them with US based Organizations under US Laws. These AID programs are manned by few Americans and the NGO's of other countries (Not American) are seen as the saviors of the needy countries ans we are handed the dirty end of the stick as the GREEDY Americans.
This causes another problem for the US - The Propaganda War. We are paying on both ends, for our own Suicide and for our own image improvemnet at the same time. This is expensive and now they ask for more money. Our Economic destruction is one of their goals along with the Progressive Liberal Agenda of the Communist Manifesto and the Socialist European Union Socialist Constitution. The destruction of Christianity etc.
Ask yourself this: Who was the Heros of the American Children of the Generation of WWII Vets, Who were the Heros of their Children, The Generation who fought in Korea and Vietnam, and who are the Americam Childrens hero's today?

The way I understand it, Enlisted who are in the Reserves and attending college can enter the ROTC program. A civilian who is in college can also enter the ROTC program.
The cut comes after the second/sophomore year entering the junior year, for both sets of candidates. This is when the Army accepts the candidates and "Contracts" then into the Officer Corps as Cadets or as my sons fellow enlisted reserves call them "Kadidiots"!! LOL!!
If your grades, physical fitness and ROTC marks don't cut it, then they cut you!
I've heard a lot of different ways this all comes about but this is what I make of it. I'm retired NAVY!! - but that's another World!!
He's wants to go to the 101st Airborne and then Ranger Training. I tell him he's NUTS, for wanting to jump out of a perfectly good airplane, he tells me The Apple didn't fall far from the tree.

Hey, if Richie Daley can tear down Meigs Field in the middle of the night with no accountability, then we can do the same to the UN building. We can, as Daley did, claim it will make us all safer.

Transportation standards and business laws prop up global economy and propel it efficiently and safely (as opposed to no safety standard at all). Insurance companies and banks rely on the UN for a forum for practical uses (like ISO 9000, ISM-SMS laws, IMO, etc.). Even though our CFRs are most certainly higher in all regards, if the UN went away overnight or even in a few years then our local and international regulatory standards (much less agencies) will be for nothing as the rest of the world will undercut our labor with unsafe business practices. The loss of such a forum would reap piracy and blatantly criminal empires. As it stands, both of those outlawed practices must still remain hidden from authority.
Doing away with the UN now or in the future is as futile and unrealistic as tossing a few rifles to Tibetans during the post-WWII decades and telling them to take care of there own Communist Chinese problems. We, the US, did not intervene against every aggressive and illegitimate Communist expansion because it was physically impossible. Running a better model of international or globalized industries without the UN for a forum, mediator, arbitrator, etc. is wholly unrealistic. Thus, it's best to keep the United Nations, but purify it of its corruption and criminals.
