"...So, to restore some comity (and common sense) to your editorials, here is my advice. The next time your lesser angels insist on publishing "Bush lied," try typing, "Bush's mother wears combat boots." Then sleep on it for one night, and see which statement sounds sillier the next morning.
You will have a better paper if you do."
Terry Larkin, Minnetonka, is a business consultant.
That same "Bush lied" letter appeared in all the newspapers across the country.
I think it's Howard Dean's "Shock and Awe" campaign.
The only thing Dean has to offer is Schlock and Flaw.
It seems to be a favorite ploy of the newspapers now: manipulate the letters to the editors to make it say anything they want to say -- particularly with the usual Bush-bashing that is distributed to all the local communities and signed by renowned dysfunctional people in the community. That way they get their hate message out without having any accountability for them. The newspapers have become nothing more than propaganda machines. Fortunately, they're also becoming irrelevant and the self-respecting ones are leaving the talentless ones behind. If they want to win a propaganda battle, they need to hire and retain some talented people -- and not just those who are so obvious, grade schoolers can see through them.
I have not read a newspaper in over a decade.
I don't think I'll read one again any time soon.
shameful editorial at the Boston Glob, trying to justify it's disgraceful behavior...

What is it about journalism that seems to attract and retain the vilest, crudest, most despicable people in the gene pool now? Nothing seems to be beneath them as they push everybody else aside vainly trying to get to the top -- as though it were American Idol. They're being played for fools by their rich media owners and their stooges. They'll always be just flunkies and not the pompous top guy exploiting and manipulating everybody else, they imagine themselves being.
It's power-envy, isn't it? President Bush has it, and they don't, so they're going to drag him down to their level.
They ought to just quit those jobs and get back into self-fulfilling and self-enobling writing. Otherwise, of course they will continue to have low self-esteem -- as reflected in their writings and editings. The resentment and bitterness is palpable. That's about all it is now.
That's funny, I've never heard such a statement made about engineering...
There have been tremendous advances in every field of understanding in the last fifty years -- even last ten years, with the notable exception of journalism and education.
Somehow, these people think that, history is going to repeat itself and once again, they will be on the top of the hill, with information worth knowing about anything.
In the meantime, here is the best of their biases, prejudices and ignorance -- in case you weren't around for the last fifty years.
This "Lied" stuff drives me nuts. I guess they assume GWB had conculsive evidence that no WMD existed in Iraq. Well, what kind of evidence does the non-existence of anything produce. Well- NONE. One only gets reports or evidence of the EXISTENCE things. That evidence it turns out was INACCURATE or the analysis was FAULTY. If GWB knew with certainty that there existed no WMD are intelligent services are stunningly awesome or GWB is omnipotent.
You really should read the Washington Times. First class journalism and the best editorial page in the US!
That might be true.
Clinton laid.

their rich media owners and their stooges...
what annoys me is that even as their circulation numbers are going down DRASTICALLY, they still don't seem to get it.
Hey, MSM!
WE'RE NOT BUYING IT! NOT YOUR PAPERS nor YOUR LIES!
'Tis true, I tell you! 'Tis true!
The thing I notice about their (Washington Times) writing is that they don't seem to be forcing you to come to their conclusions and value judgments. With most of the "liberal" newspapers and writing, you feel their whole purpose is to brainwash you -- as a sign of their superior intelligence and power.
It'd be all right if they just wanted to relay the news -- but that deep longing and incessant deceptions to prove their superiority, gets rather tiresome. If only they weren't so obvious, inept, self-conscious, they might be forgivable, maybe even laughable. But now they're just pathetic and annoying.
Where are the suicide-bombers when you need them?
