It was depressing, but somehow it worked.
It's odd because one of the most memorable moments from that movie wasn't anything particularly poignant, but the goofy scene where one of his stupid friends let's them watch his sisters get undressed.
Very funny.

Maybe its the scenic setting, but I happen to find Sligo a very pleasant spot. I hope it doesn't a bad name just because of this murder. You can get a good hammering in any Irish town at the weekend when all the drunken kids leave the nightclubs. Nothing wrong with County Sligo itself - the town/city (whatever the are calling it these days) is rough enough at times.
True, you can get the shite kicked out of ye in any Irsh town!

Frank McCourt certainly doesn't make his hometown sound very appealing to the average tourist. True, Limerick isn't *that* bad!!

So far, guns just haven't been considered a necessity. Wait 'til Sinn Fein/IRA take power!!

Catholics killing protestants, Hindus killing Sikhs, Buddhist killing Jews, Muslims killing everyone and Baptist drinking Jack Daniels. Religions can't seem to get along.
