I totally agree w/ the Abercrombie & B....they're way out of line and their catalogs have been bordering on pornography for a long time..but I think they are wayyy overboard on their dress code, just my opinion.

Most religions stress chastity and modesty in women. I suspect this has to do with traditions regarding women as property and to keep bloodlines straight.

My guess would be that the Bob Jones thing is based mostly on a reaction to pop culture and current trends that are viewed as polar opposites of the image they want to portray.

Good Bob. I think you parsed that right.

See how a little diplomacy goes a long way around here.

I will pass on the message that you are no longer dressing out in Liz Claibourne stuff (Although you probably wouldn't have any problem with that crotch rise problem, right?!) (ROTFLMAO).

They can do whatever they want, whether you like it or not!

Sure, and we can point and laugh at them, whether you like it or not.

"Most religions stress chastity and modesty in women."

They also stress modesty and chastity in men.

BJU kids will get laughed at no matter what they wear.

How would you know? Have you been there? Anyway, why would someone LAUGH at another wearing modest clothing? A gentleman wearing a shirt and a tie or a lady wearing a skirt to her knees with no midriff or breast showing? Assuming you have children, do you allow your daughter to wear booty shorts and low cut tops so that others can oogle her? Do you allow your son to wear t shirts proclaming his love for drugs?

In my opinion, you are way out of line and need to actually think about what you are typing instead of tossing out crackpot statements just for attention.

Wearing Conservative skirts and pants is the same as a Burka??

No, but the rationale for the dress code is the same.

The fact is A&F has been pro-homosexual and anti-Christian for a while.

What has A & F done that is pro-homo and anti-Christian? Give me specifics. BTW, are students at BJU allowed to listen to Rush? I ask because Rush has been divorced two or three times and that seems pretty anti-Christian to me.

Let me phrase it differently. People get to wear what they want. However, what they don't get to do is tell others what to wear.

Depends on how you interpret "Christianity". Unless, of course, you are one of those "one true church, one way" sort of folks. You're not are you?

Bob jones is a Bible College, they take their instructions from the Bible, what a concept, they actually BELIEVE in the scriptures.... to better understand them see 1 John 2 15-16 and Romans 12-2 I could give countless others but these will do.

Sorry, I'm confused. I hope the "church of Satan" isn't the RCC?

The modesty part is so that women do not distract men from God's own work.

Thought you knew that.

There's an on-line Islamic clothing store called Shukr, and their womens' clothes are - in my opinion - better looking and more dignified than a lot of the crap that young American women wear.

...to church. Sad but true.

The funny thing is, their clothes are pretty middle-of-the-road. Nothing too racy. It's just their marketing that seems to be a problem for some.

I'm getting too old for A&F, anyway. I'll stick with Club Monaco and Burberry.

Both points are well taken. You and I make the choice of whether or not to purchase an A&F product. Bob Jones Univ has a dress code. Both are fine with me.

Banning a brand because their clothing is unacceptable according to the dress code is one thing. Banning that brand of clothing because of their advertising strategy is just ridiculous.

Every now and then someone on the right, drops a clanger. This is one of them.

Wasn't this the same place that had a ban on interracial dating until the year 2000?

Not my view. Bob was pointing to the BJU view. They have a theological dispute with the RCC. My only problem with the RCC is strictly ecclesiastical.
