If everyone would simply take their kids out of public schools...the problem would evaporate....

Yes I did this 8 years ago...and please do not respond with one of those, "well you can afford it" messages....

The education, not indoctrination is worth more to me than a new home or a new automobile.....

I agree. My son is a 19 year old republican. So are all his friends. They see right through the political agenda, which I give them tons of credit for.

I agree, alot of this crap is going to backfire on the looney left. Part of a teenager just wants to rebel against authority, and when this crap is pushed down their throats, they don't like it. Especially with the Internet and all the information available, they can check up on the "facts" that the leftist present to them.

My 15 year old son sees right thru this crap too. We have lived in a very conservative area, but he's got a a few left leaning teachers. My son may look like a left over 70's hippie with long hair, jeans, and rock t-shirts, but he may be the most conservative of the family. He's got one pony-tailed lefty humanities teacher he can't stand, and comes home telling us the things this guy says. The guy so far has not been way out there, but I bet in a different school, he would be wearing his Che Guevara shirts himself in class and would teach from Marx.

VOUCHERS

Be careful. You'll find opposition to that right here.

Yeah, I know. Yet, they don't like the idea of making SS and welfare payments good only at government stores (with inferior products, propaganda, religion bans and union thuggery). Go figure.

David H.'s account of Leftist propaganda promoted in schools is all the more frightening because it's everywhere, relentless, and starts in kindergarten. Some high school kids say they spout the party line in class to keep the teacher happy. They know it's ridiculous, but they don't realize how dangerous it is.

I knew the audience would be composed of left-wing activists whom I have reason to know are intolerant, obnoxious, and nasty when gathered in a public setting – and can be violent, as well.

The Left intolerant?...Say it ain's so!

Reasoned debate sounds fine, but kids are a captive audience, spoonfed corrosive Hate America propaganda by authority figures. Horowitz is right, the integrity of our educational system is at stake.

David Horowitz has the heart of a lion. Brains and eloquence, too. Thank goodness he saw the light and crossed over from the dark side.

At one time, school teachers had to take an oath they were not Communists or Communist sympathizers. Obviously, those days are gone for good. Now they have infiltrated and taken over the classrooms.

Publik edumacashun needs a massive internal housecleaning. This is outrageous!

Thank you for your service in Iraq!!!!!

My Husband is x-Navy and went to collage on the GI bill.

One of our boys is active duty Navy. He enlisted at 18, went to every school that the Navy offered and got 2 degrees while still enlisted. He was sailor of the year on the Enterprise a while back, and is now a Lt., serving as the only military personnel on a special project.

My point is that there is schools that you can get advanced degrees at that you do not have to put up with all of the liberal dogma.

You know where you stand and if you are strong enough you can manage to get through without any damage to your beliefs.

Yes. Check out his new book, "The End of Time". I've ordered it but have not received it yet; I had the opportunity a couple of weeks ago to hear him talk for one hour on C-span about the book. The man is so multi-faceted! A true renaissance man. While I do not "throw" the word around as many are wont to do these days, I consider him a genuine hero. And yes, David the lion-hearted!!!

I read that some group (Eagle Forum, Focus on the Family?) had developed a Parental Rights Statement which lists several pages of things you have NOT given your consent to, on behalf of your child. The school:

--must NOT teach sex/sexuality or gender/family issues without previous parental approval of the text and the content;

--must not subject student to any kind of psychological testing or therapy w/o parental consent;

--must give student the opportunity to opt-out of any assignment which the parents deem harmful to his spiritual, religious, or moral formation;

etc etc.

This statement is backed up with a multitude of legal references. The idea is that the parents present this to the the principal and teachers of the school and requies them to sign it before the parent enrolls the student in that school.

Does anybody know where I can get a copy of this?

Hadn't heard of that one, ma'am. But if either of us do find it, it will be a welcome posting for us here at Free Republic.

The only version of it I could fine was from Texas. I assume it would be a model for any state, but the legal citations would have to be adapted to your particular state.

I'll make a separate post of it, headlined "Notice and Declaration of Parental Rights." It's dynamite.
