I can post contrary views at the dailykos without be harassed.

Perhaps that's because the truth is optional at the DK.

He didn't help smoke Nixon because of any political party. The reasons he did it to Nixon are pretty clear.

Apparently his primary reason was anger over being passed over for the head spot at the FBI.

So noble.

"I'll put you down under the "Favors Situational Ethics" column."

I don't consider it ethics. I consider it checks and balances of our government.

I believe both sides believe the other side believes the truth is optional as long as it supports their point of view.

A Maryland judge found in 1981 that Agnew had accepted kickbacks as Maryland governor.

Mad Magazine once did a parody of the state mottoes on license plates. One of their plates said "Maryland - Cradle of Graft".

Breaking the law is now checks and balances?

Enough with the "both sides" garbage.

Do you admit that CBS tried to further a baseless story about George W. Bush based on fake documents?

Breaking the law is now checks and balances?

"Nixon did the honorable thing and resigned. Clinton was a selfish porkface."

Nixon didn't want to be humiliated in a long drawn out drama. He didn't resign out of honor. Nixon and honor just do not go together. that is what you call an oxymoron.

"Breaking the law is now checks and balances?"

How did we jump from showing the president secret FBI files to breaking the law?

So Clinton's willingness to withstand excruciating (for us if not him) humiliation is some sign of honor in your world?

"the ends justify the means".

Isn't that what was said about the Republicans about the justification to go to war in Iraq on less than accurate intelligence?

No. But don't make Nixon to be all honorable either.

The entire top half of the Bureau was angry. He was just the one that acted, and it is likely he was not alone in collecting intel for the purposes of passing it on.

It's been said. It's not factually true.

So, you agree the intelligence has been less than desired. I take it you are a Bolton backer, then?

Good for you.

Some of us remember that era and I hate to burst your bubble, but Nixon did have a sense of honor.

You hit a winner. I think he/she conceded with a change in subject.

Well, tell us more. We're all ears.

Maybe there are others in addition to Felt that committed crimes, you're saying.

I was not the one who changed the subject. I challenged Howlin on why he changed the subject.

Btw, you haven't addressed the Kerry Watergate era campaign engaging in a Watergate like break in. Except that one was more closely related to the candidate than the more famous Watergate.
