This opens up a VERY safe GOP seat in Orange County, CA. Any ideas on who the heir apparent might be?
John Campbell?

Will his district survive with a conservative in the next election?

Well there goes my hopes of Cox running against Feinstein next year. He couldn't have won anyway due to his politically incorrect race and gender. ;)
The good news is that any halfway competent female Republican candidate should be able to clean Feinstein's clock...if the Old Boy RINOs in the California Republican establishment deign to lift a finger to help her get nominated this time.

Will his district survive with a conservative in the next election? Easily. Democrats have no hope in that district. ;)

Yes, but RINO's have taken over the State GOP, it will be an uphill battle to get a Conservative Republican in that seat.

Looks like another move by Bush to eliminate real conservatives from positions of power to me.

Will his district survive with a conservative in the next election? Yeah. The only Democrats that win in that neighborhood are dead ones on West Wing.

Cox should do a good job.
This will help him to come the Governor's office or as a Senator later on.

Cox, who is 52, has been considered an ally of business groups.....better bring on the FILIBUSTER!!! He can't possibly be QUALIFIED with this in his past.

Who will take over the Chair of the Homeland Security Committee?
I'd love to see Tancredo, but he won't stand a chance.

Cox is the perfect choice.
