Yes, very interesting.
Im quite surprised at what I am hearing on this thread. The Russians have made a huge contribution to Israel. If nothing else they come expecting to serve in the army since service is mandatory in Russia, and they are excellent soldiers. That alone pays their way.

In addition they are coming for the same reasons almost all mass immigration groups came to Israel -- to escape chaos, persecution and for economic improvement.
From the countries where Jews have the luxury of emigrating for purely idealistic reasons, the Jews do not come. They stay in their nice lives.
BTW It proves my point about citizenship.
What was your point about citizenship?
People shouldn't be allowed to get citizenship only because of their religion or blood.
"FSU - Where the girls are girls and the guys are too."
"The aliya from the FSU is the most educated in Israel's history. More than 40% of FSU immigrants have 13 or more years education, compared to 24% of veteran Israeli"
Hej Dervish!
That 24% (actually it's much closer to 25%) is the third-highest in the world after the US and Holland.
Jews in the Diaspora tend to be very highly educated. Thus, for example, American Jews are generally more highly educated than the American public as a whole. 55% have received a college degree, and a quarter have a graduate degree; this is compared with 29% college degrees and 6% graduate degrees among the general population.
I would like to know what the numbers are for the non-Jews who have emigrated to Israel from Russia and the Ukraine - far lower, and nowhere near that 40% figure you quoted, I than their Jewish counterparts, I would imagine. Certainly, this would accord with the Jewish experience everywhere else in the world.
Given the increase in crime and anti-Semitism in Israel that has directly resulted from allowing these non-Jews in, this utterly insane policy has been an unholy disaster.

Interesting. Are American Jews more intelligent (IQ etc.) than other Americans ?
