Sigh. There goes the neighborhood.

Macs are very cool. They have better CPUs then most WinTel boxes. And judging by their supporters' grammar and spelling, the dimmest bulbs in the flock...

I manage to run a home business just fine with a Mac. There's nothing I need besides Office 2004, Adobe suite and assorted Macromedia products. The cross platform compatibility of those programs is just about 100%.
No goatee, granola eating, limp wristed liberal here.

Are you really a "government apologist"?
P.S. I'm a DECnet guy from way back, also.

People who arrogantly point out another person's typos and spelling or grammar miscues on an internet forum are incredibly petty. We've all made those mistakes, including you I'm sure, and using them as part of your argument against another person's post is not only rude but makes you look ridiculous.

No goatee, granola eating, limp wristed liberal here. I'll take these "I'd buy a Mac, but I'm not gay" fairies seriously when they strap on a pair of steel-toes, grab a paperknife, and join me on the graveyard shift. Till then, as far as I'm concerned, only women work in air conditioned offices.

He's a nationally known technology security expert from Seminole, so when he wrote in his online blog that he was tired of unreliable technology and fending off virus and spyware threats to his office PC he triggered a torrent of attention. Yada yada yada. "Hello, I'm a security 'expert' who can't keep my own systems up and running, but you should definitely hire me to protect yours!"

Don't get me wrong; I am writing this on an iBook G4. I just don't look forward to an influx of PC users, bringing along their viruses and spyware!

Mac friendly since the 80's, when my brother had an Apple II. Owner since 1991. Never would even think to LOOK at a PC-- why? Viruses? Never. Let's just keep the secret to ourselves as long as we can.

"Winn Schwartau switched his office from PCs to Macintosh computers, a seemingly simple move that created an overwhelming reaction in the online world.
Schwartau is no mere computer user. He's a nationally known technology security expert from Seminole,..."
I'm shocked. The weird sight of such tall tales and expectation of slack-jawed gullibility is what's really "overwhelming." I did not know that there are so many knuckleheads on this planet.

I'm a Sys Admin in a mixed Unix and Windows environment. At home I use a Mac because it is less of a security risk than any Windows machine I have seen. I also can test my Unix scripts at home.
I love my Mac.

I've been there and I've done that, and I still have the boots and tools to prove it.
Seriously, though, I much prefer the air conditioned office and day shift.

Needed: More hacker resources devoted to Mac weaknesses ... I agree.
When you have a few percent market share the hackers and the spyware wackos just are not going to pay that much attention to you. Or it could be that the Mac is inherently more secure. I'll believe it when somebody proves it. Until then I consider it just conjecture. The lack of dark side resources targeting the Mac is a much more likely explanation.
To: _Jim
the -one- application platform I have never been exposed to is: the Mac.) Your loss.
To: Hank Rearden
No mention of the very-common side effect of switching to Macs: testicular atrophication. Hank's Baaaaaaack.....
To: jimtorr
Okay Jim. You makes one I'll listen to, but somehow I don't think you're gonna question my bona fides based on my platform.
Even so, like the old papermakers say: if you're gonna be dumb, you gotta be tough ;o)
To: Hank Rearden
And they can't run my business. You make this statement often, but it would have to be a durn strange business I couldn't set up to run on an easy to use, reliable, stable Mac system.
I remain mystified.
