Canada suicide hotline to open only from 9 to 5

Two updates (from CBC):
1) This line receives 1400 calls a year total, of which 50 calls are from people contemplating suicide. The remaining 1350 are about mental illness, but not suicide. So, 4 calls per day total and 1 suicide call per week. I can now understand why they would want to cut it.
2) After media got upset, they reversed the decision. Line that handles 4 calls per day is going to stay!

I don't know how things are run now,
but locally, 30 years ago, these HelpLines used Volunteers to answer the phones.
Maybe the government should get back to what they know best, stealing our money
and let folks in the community have their responsibility back.

I'm not sure why suicide hotlines exist. Almost nobody who commits suicide uses them.
