Well, with that much information, certainly we'll have it pinpointed in no time.

OK, here is a bit more information. Running Quark, Roundhouse on a network environment. Started running very slow and before I could save it locked up.

My macintosh crashes sometimes when I switch from cable to dialup modem and it hasn't done that in a while. I sure as heck don't do the ctrl-alt-delt thing I just had to do on my dell computer. That was driving me crazy.

I was sold on a Mac on the information that it was a stable operating system not prone to the "PC blue screen" syndrome and locking upI've been running Win XP on 2 computers for over 2 years now, and have YET to have a BSOD. XP is very stable.

Have you checked for and installed all OS and software updates?
To: BJungNan
Firstly, all computers may crash, regardless of OS. They do differ with respect to the frequency of crashes, however.
Secondly, crashes sometimes occur due to hardware failures.
Thirdly, you haven't provided enough information to actually diagnose your problem.

I have experienced far more crashes on a Mac than on a Windows system.

You need a Lamborghini Testarossa. Those never crash. As long as you don't eat cheese while driving and keep and eye out for moose.

Well, I mostly was carrying sarcastic-aggressive baggage with me from another thread. My apologies.
I don't know Macs, but I do know that to troubleshoot anything--cars, industrial processes, computers--thorough and precise information about the system will be needed.

What OS version? What application were you running? What is your hardware setup? Give some specific information on what you were doing just prior to the lock up.

From skimming some FR threads over the years, I can understand how one would get the impression that Macs are perfect, being handed down from the mountain by Saint Jobs himself.

I have experienced far more crashes on a Mac than on a Windows system. That was true for me before I made the switch to OSX. OS 9 was never very stable for me, but OSX has been rock solid. I understand that when a single program encounters trouble, all you need to do is force quit that program alone. System reboots are a thing of the past.
To: Random Nonsense
H never said. But I doubt he is running OSX at all.
