"An atomic weapon would weigh several tons and would be extremely difficult to smuggle from Syria or Estonia to El Paso."

Apparently you don't recall the 280 mikemike atomic cannon. The 15kt projectiles were indeed, capable of critical nuclear detonation and weighed a little over 500lbs.

Why don't the "men" stay home and address the problems with their crappy Mexican goobermint?

"That's what President Bush has been saying for at least ten years. Only his plan calls for temporary guest workers, not necessarily permanent residents."

Reading is fundamental. Remember that from the 70's?

Try re-reading the Bush plan.

It's Shamnesty Lite.

Your tagline about Hillary and my guns reveals a very serious misunderstanding of this country and the poeple who live in it.

Tancredo has become nothing but a mouthpiece for Pat Buchanan. He has joined the anti-Bush ranks of Lindsey Ghram and McCain.

Bayourod has become nothing but a mouthpiece for child molesting race hustling leftist Morris Dees of the Southern Poverty Law Center. He has joined the anti-American ranks of La Raza and MEChA and the violent pro-invasion protestors who rioted in Garden Grove, CA Wednesday night and Baldwin Park last week.

Wow, that kind of attack is really fun. Thanks for showing me how to do that.

We tried to "seal" a 66 mile section of the border in Operation Gatekeeper. Double fences (some concrete and steel), guard towers, flood lights, infrared cameras, ground sensors, patrol roads, horse patrols, ATV patrols, 16 helicopters, fixed wing aircraft, unmanned aerial vehicles, trucks, and a ratio of 25 guards per mile were incorporated. An estimated 30,000 to 40,000 get through each year anyway. Apply that ratio of 25 guards per mile to our 105,000 mile border/coastline and it comes out to over 2.5 million guards at a cost of $459,375,000,000.00, and still 47,670,000 to 63,630,000 people could cross undetected into the U.S. each year.

Pure BS! The Minuteman Project did it on a few donations and retirees in lawnchairs. Your numbers are crap - invented to support your position that our national borders are somehow impossible to secure.

"A nation without borders is not a nation." - Ronald Reagan

As long as men must come north to feed their families, and as long as America is dependent upon foreign laborers to replace the 40 million workers we have aborted since Roe v Wade, the border can never be "sealed". President Bush has the most practical answers.

As long as men must rob banks and liquor stores and sell crack to schoolchildren to feed their families, and as long as America is dependent upon their input into our diverse economy, banks and liquour stores can never be "secured" and schoolchildren can never be "protected" from dangerous drugs. Mara Salvatruchas (MS-13) gang leader Rivera-Paz has the most practical answers.

There again, you've taught me so much on how to do this. I can just make up any old thing, post it on FR, and see if it sticks. Doesn't matter if it makes any logical sense or bears any resemblance to the truth or reality, you can just post whatever crap you want and get away with it. You've proven that. Cool.

That's what President Bush has been saying for at least ten years. Only his plan calls for temporary guest workers, not necessarily permanent residents.

No plan that allows a single illegal border crosser to stay without first returning to their home country is unacceptable. Any plan that rewards invaders with jobs, amnesty, citizenship, benefits like Medicare or Social Security is unacceptable. Any plan that does not first include fulfilling the constitutional requirement to secure our borders from invasion BEFORE setting up any sort of TEMPORARY "guest worker" program is unacceptable.

RE: An atomic weapon would weigh several tons and would be extremely difficult to smuggle from Syria or Estonia to El Paso.

A HE projectile for a 155 howitzer weighs about 95 pounds if I remember correctly. As far back as the 1970s 155 howitzers had atomic projectiles, I believe. A quick search found info about the W48 155-millimeter howitzer atomic projectile. Yes, I know that tactical weapons are not city busters. But just one tactical nuke could ruin your day nevertheless.

RE: "[most people] just want to keep Mexican laborers from crossing"

No matter how many times we say ILLEGAL ILLEGAL ILLEGAL ILLEGAL ILLEGAL it always goes over your head. Another way of stating your comment is the correct way, "Most people just want to keep ILLEGAL immigrants from crossing."

Why is that so difficult to understand?

IMO, "cheap" legal immigrant labor is another debate best left until ILLEGAL ILLEGAL ILLEGAL ILLEGAL ILLEGAL immigration is ended (at least as best we can).

BTW, great debate so far.

Besides, there aren't enough men and women in all our armed forces to seal the borders.

That's the favorite strawman of those who say we shouldn't even try.

We don't need to seal the borders airtight. We just need to signficantly increase the risk of apprehension - to where fewer people are willing to fork over a thousand bucks to a coyote if there is a better-than even-money chance they will get caught.

Next, couple that with more aggressive inland enforcement. And especially make it riskier for employers to hire illegals so that lots fewer do. And cut off illegals from government benefits and schools.

Yeah, some will still come across. But we could probably cut the flow by at least half and probably more if we layer the approach.

"Any experienced employer will confirm what I am saying.
Training, skills, experience and education are important, but dependability and a good attitude are far more important."

So, you're saying that there are no hardworking Americans with skills, good attitude, dependability and education out there?

Your position on this subject is laughable.

The hispanic vote shtick is a loser because 60-40 is well 60-40 do the math. What you amount to is a stalking horse for the left and their dangerous loonieness of open borders.

Besides, there aren't enough men and women in all our armed forces to seal the borders.

If they were given orders to shoot to kill I'll bet illegals would stop coming. And I would support any president who gave that order.

And yes I really mean it.

In 2001 Bush, who had already made significant inroads with Latinos and was trying to stretch that advantage, proposed a vast immigration deal with Mexico. And just three months before September 11, Mexico's foreign minister at the time, Jorge Castañeda, told US reporters he was confident that the "whole enchilada" was about to be agreed upon -- i.e., a sweeping reform that would legalize millions of undocumented workers already in America as well as those coming in the future. But the enchilada, the chips and the salsa were all blown to the winds by the terrorist attacks and the new focus on security.

Interesting how things happen, isn't it...?

Marc Cooper... grrrr .... a marxist to the bone trying to masquerade as a slightly left moderate ... a commie, a pinko, another michael moore...
