Probably prefer they become Buddists - The Christians have been known in the past to strap on their swords and chop some heads off.
Islam says their are gonna get'cha if you defect - but if you defect from the Christians they just say you are going to hell. I suppose Christianity just had a few hundred years more to mature.
Are you on the "save the world" track again ? If an Islamic becomes an atheist and the bad guys go after him ( Gee, THAT'S how we can identify the bad guys ) what business is it of yours ?
So you're suggesting that we kill the "bad guys" (and leave the "good guys" alone)...while at the same time admitting you don't know how to identify the good guys from the bad guys. Hmmmmm... now that's an interesting plan.

So it's military training/law enforcement that's going identify the innocent Muslim child from the one who is carrying the suicide pack in his school backpack...eh? Hey, maybe we can line 'em up in the school yard, x ray 'em, go thru their packs, check their shoes etc....just the way we do in the airports nowadays. Yeah...that's the ticket! LOL!

I'm saying a massive education program is better than the "we'll just kill the bad guys" plan. There is no way to identify all the bad guys. HOwever, we should eliminate the ones we can identify, while massively educating the others. I don't think it can happen overnight. And, i think the western media is too disgustingly PC to really go at it right now. So, for now, internet sites like Ali Sina's, are a good start. And people like you and me pointing others in the right direction certainly helps too.

Great. We agree that Muslims should be free to denounce and leave Islam. I'm with you on the other freedoms you mentioned, too.

A) If we are able to identify SOME terrorist, then

Any translation would miss about 95% of the content. The stuff that comnes through would have to be disjointed and weak. They say it has to be read in Arabic. Few do, even counting Arabic speakers. Verses are memorized, not read.
