I'm wondering how binding that handshake deal really is. And wouldn't the 'deal' be changing the rules in midstream? We'll see...

Graham clearly loves riding polls. Every time he makes up an excuse for his pathetic sellout, he mentions "40% of Republicans feel blah, blah, blah".

When has Bush ever mentioned a poll in terms of a reason for coming to his decisions?

Just heard the quisling and it's more of the same from this loser. Spent all his time trying to make sense of his "deal".

Here's a thought. Can't the President bring this to the Supreme Court on a separation of powers suit? What is the definition of advice and consent? If my State Senator is not allowed to vote on nominies--doesn;'t that violate the constitution? Any lawyers out there?

"...and at this point all judges will get a vote."

ALL Judges? Saad included? Or just the three in the Munich Pact?

Wow, is Graham naive or what? How can he believe the Democrats will give all the nominees an up or down vote when the "deal" explicitly says only three! And I would ask him what the half-life is of the ability of the minority to filibuster judicial nominees when Democrats regain the majority? I give it less than one week.

from Via Confirmthem.com & this thread:

Or, in other words, the clause “nominees should only be filibustered under extraordinary circumstances, and each signatory must use his or her own discretion and judgment in determining whether such circumstances exist” means that if Democrat signatories filibuster when Lindsey Graham and Mike DeWine (et al.) think the circumstances are not extraordinary, then they have their “out” clause.

They can can rightly say that the nominees should not have been filibustered because the circumstances were not extraordinary. Thus, the GOPers would be released from their commitment to vote against the nuclear option.

That reading is more plausible to me than the alternative reading that Graham and DeWine were majorly duped. Now it is up to them to hold the Democrats’ feet to the fire. Are they up to it? Graham surely is, and DeWine is mouthing the right words. That makes 48 GOP non-signers + 2 who will hold Dems to the agreement = 50. In theory, it looks good.

As I said there, I don't know about you, but I'm not taking kindly to the fate of the judiciary resting on the cojones of Senator Graham.

I guess Lindsey Graham missed the fact that the Rats on the other side of this have just set themselves up as the most powerful people in the world.

Every other Rat in the world will have to come crawling to them to get their vote for a filibuster of a Supreme Court nominee.

All SC resident go to Graham's site( http://lgraham.senate.gov/index.cfm?mode=contactform ) and email him your feelings. Here is what I sent last night when I heard about his going to the dark side:

I am so disappointed in you caving in to the democrats and not standing with the President you were elected to support. I have many friends who now call you a RINO - Republican In Name Only. We have a true statesman for a Governor. He looks out for the best interest of the people no matter what the cost, and the people of SC see him for the statesman he is. He also had the courage of his convictions when he represented the 1st district of SC. I had hope you would measure up to his stature, but alas you chose to be popular with the NY Times and the Washington Post.

I had strongly supported you against Alex Sanders. I could never vote for someone like him, and now I cannot cast any future votes for you. Please know that my donations, even though they are small, to the RNC will now cease. I will only donate to the individual candidates that stand by their convictions.

If Ronald Reagan had chosen the easy way, there would still be a Soviet Union and Berlin Wall. If George W. Bush had 'compromised' Saddam Hussein would still be killing his own countrymen, and Islamic terrorists would have struck again because they know weakness can be exploited.

There is a saying that the minority is protected from the 'tyranny of the majority.' Well you have failed in protecting the majority from the 'tyranny of the minority'. You may think you have done a good thing. Tell me when was the last time you have known liberals to be trusted? Not anytime on this planet.

Goodbye my former Senator.
