mass is useful when moving uncooperative objects.
this tends to select against slender nurses.
I'm serious.
there are, of course, other reasons.
ABSOLUTELY. As a veteran of several different office environments, I can say with certainty that there was not one woman in any of those offices who was not convinced that all the other women in the office were ganging up against her.
How often do you have surgery as opposed to other types of care? Don't underestimate nurses at all steps of patient care, pre, post, or non-surgically related. Pound for pound, you get your money's worth with a nurse!
yet more silliness (the thread, not the article)
That is an excellent point. I hadn't thought of it like that but considering how much weight they frequently have to hoist or move, that's probably a good reason. A little girl probably couldn't manage it. You need some heft to get the job done.
Two of my neighbors growing up were OR nurses and each had to be at least 150 lbs over weight. And when we played cards at night they always talked about their feet hurting from all the "miles" they walked that day. And when ever I am in a hospital for any reason I take mental notes, and it seems to be running about 85% of them are overweight or WAY overweight. Maybe even higher.
And how come they are never hot and scantily clad like in the movies?
often true, especially if there are more employees than the job actually requires.
It's not, you know. It's really a guy.
Those are gorgeous!
Yes, gimme cute shoes.
Boy, are you cheap!!
Haven't we already discussed that!
You're thinking of special duty nurses and you have to pay for them out of pocket.....
I think the other poster was probably right about nurses having to be big to handle the masses/weight they have to in the job. I don't think they're overweight as much as they're just big women. Kind of like the female equivalent of construction workers. Beefy.
But that is only one shoe. What would you wear on the other foot?
real interesting. I have been in 2 pay-in handicapping contests. The first I was 88 in the standing. The 2nd I came in 7th basically because I learned a little strategy from the 1st one. I go in there with the mindset to win. I am signed up for another one in July and hope to win this one for the trip to Las Vegas.
Of course I have been in contest where I didn't pick any winners but I figure if I don't play I can't win at all.
Then give me the heavy one!
If you can't deal with abstraction then you definitely will not thrive in the modern world. Perhaps you would prefer sodbusting on the prairie?
The point of psychic income is not to "pay your bills", but that doesn't mean that some people won't try. An intelligent, capable person can trade off psychic income against monetary income.
Non-MD patient care is also provided by people with much less education and less-stringent licensing requirements.
I see you're new here. Don't worry, you'll get used to this.
You gotta bet big to win big.
I'd find another just as cute ;)
