Just heard Ann Compton on WABC radio lying thru her teeth about the Newsweak story.

Guess they just can't help themselves. At least the host forced her to admit the TRUTH, that previous stories about Koran desecration came from PRISONERS.

I don't know what you're talking about. Hastert is a terrific leader. He's not florid and all fire and brimstone like the yahoos want, he just shuts up and gets the job done. And where you get the idea that I approve of Frist's leadership, i don't know. As for Romney, if you think he can somehow make Massachusetts into a Republican state with an overwhlemningly democratic legislature, you're one of those who's part of the problem. Wake up to reality--Ronald Reagan himself (who's one of my favorite presidents but failed to get many things accomplished, we forget)couldn't do a better job than Romney in Massachusetts.

RE: Romney - Let me lay it out so even you can understand: The Republican party in mASS. is and has been leaderless and abandoned for over 25 years. That a string of country-club Republicans have been elected governor is no indication of political intelligence, ability or leadership. (Or did I miss some major contribution of Weld, Celluci, Swift, etc.?) None, I repeat, NONE of these 'successful Northeast Republicans' have either 1)done anything to rebuild the state party; 2) contributed anything on the national scene. Romney continues this 'honorable' pattern. He is a puppet Governor, who came to mASS. to polish his national image for those looking for a photogenic 'suit'. My bet is that he unless enough gullible sad-sacks fall for his schtick, he will fade back into graceful retirement in Utah when he finally has had enough of being a floor mat for hack Democrat politicians in mASS.

As for Hastert, yeah, a REAL leader in the House. The record of accomplishment there is soooo staggering.

But what if cloture is never called for? What would that process look like?

IIRC the vote proceeds to a straight up or down vote, which is all the (R)s want.

"RE: Romney - Let me lay it out so even you can understand:"

As a lifelong Massachusetts resident I don't need anyone from your backwater to tell me about our politics here. You know zero about Massachusetts politics. No one can build a Republican party in a state filled with liberals who are constantly being replenished by the local colleges (being from NH you wouldn't know about them big schools ;). Your silly "all or nothing" attitude has nothing to do with adult reality and facts. You can cross your arms and grunt "He aint' done nothin'" for the state, but a state with such a massive liberal background is NEVER going to have a Republican majority, never, ever.

Your petulance about Weld, Cellucci, etc. again completely ignores the facts; they were Republican governors in an overwhelmingly Democrat Stuttgart alone is an accomplishment, as was Weld's fiscal responsibility and Romney's.

"party in a state The Republican party in mASS."

That's clever, did you make your fellow snow mobile fetishists laugh hard with that original zinger?

"As for Hastert, yeah, a REAL leader in the House. The record of accomplishment there is soooo staggering."

An astonishing argument against Hastert. As compelling and fact-aware as "He stinks!" You're so dense you can't see the number of bills Hastert has gotten through the House, and I suspect you don't understand how our legislative system works. You seem to think that one becomes governor and WHAM! he just TURNS the state his way. How childish. And since you/re completely unaware of Hastert's terrific leadership--probably because he doesn't yell and scream about it, he just passes bills that the uninformed like you need to actually read a newspaper to find out about--it just tells me you're just another bitcher and whiner who has no idea how government runs, and just want to complain when someone doesn't make a lot of noise. Now go ice fishing or something.

My, my a might touchy aren't we? Methinks, you protest too much! (I thought the literary allusion might appeal to one as obviously 'sophisticated' as yourself.)

I guess this 'backward' state looks mighty attractive to a lot of your fellow citizens since so many of them move here. Enjoy your 'earthly' paradise - and please don't come up here to clutter and crowd our roads for tax-free shopping. You made your bed, now LIE (in both senses) in it.
