Or become involved and be thrown in the slammer. Did you click the link to see what happened to the Massachusetts father?

I found this article to be powerfully motivating, fwiw, and I look at science, being used here to justify 'safe' and 'low risk' activity to kids .... and it makes me powerfully hostile to 'scientists' in general. Just confessing how I feel ...

You are a very confused individual. You see an image of a doctor being misused so you decide to be hostile to science. If they'd used an image of Jesus to promote promiscuous homosexuality would you be angry with Christianity? Or would you be angry with the sick people who produce this stuff? Direct your anger at the perpetrators, not the victims.

First of all most here on FR went to public school so you are off-base. Second, you are not calling attention to the contents of the book in question; it seems more as if you are calling attention to the fact that the public school was caught as a home-schooler could have gotten away with it.

Yes, most of us went to public school...several years ago...Would you have seen this in your high school? Public schools are very different now.

The most important fact is that this disgusting booklet is being handed out to kids and businesses like Jordan's support it. They'll be getting a copy of this booklet faxed to them.

Then, a biology teacher ran over your doggy when you were seven. But we still have to do science, or let somebody else do it.

Sponsored by the Gay Lesbian Straight Education Network, the event, said the Article 8 Alliance, featured a "hard-core pornographic homosexual 'how-to' booklet given to hundreds of kids."

Prior to the 1960s, in a common form of the examination of conscience used before going to the Sacrament of Confession, one of the sins listed as contrary to the Fourth Commandment for parents was "sending children to Protestant and other dangerous schools." That's one of the reasons why the Catholic education system was started in the first place. I think faithful Catholic should opt out of the public school system, when one reads about this and other horrors that are taking place. Many have already done so.

That's why we homeschool!
We can't get a spot at a Catholic school in our area so we depend on "Our Lady of Divine Grace" to give us the proper guides.

Aren't there enough outraged Catholics in the state to do something about this?

The Jesuit Urban Center (voted a few years ago by Boston Mag as the best place to meet gays) of Boston and (catholic) Regis College contributed to this effort.

This is sickening. Some people have completely lost their minds and souls.

Excellent idea. The mayor of Boston contributed money to this as well.

Don't blame the scientists, gobucks. They are not ultimately responsible for this atrocity. This is just another case of "science" being twisted by ideologues for the purpose of transforming society. Blame the ideologues, not the scientists.

Personally, I do not understand why every school administrator and teacher involved with this absolute outrage, and every single member of the Brookline School Board, has not been arrested and charged with reckless child endangerment by now. These people supposedly operate in locus parentis -- to protect children, to keep them safe. Where are the real parents in all this, and why are they not screaming bloody murder? FWIW

Ummmnnnhhhh...

As DomB points out on his blog, two of the 'contributors' toward this booklet are the "Jesuit Urban Center" and Regis College (Denver? the Jebby-run one??)

Another Jesuit contribution to society.

Of course it will spread, as there are always liberal bastions within even conservative states, and the education industry is one of them.

And those moderate-conservatives who hold the strange, 'gay marriage-no', civil unions-yes' position should know that the advance of such materials will be made inevitable if gay marriage OR civil unions is imposed. If homosexual unions are given legal status akin to marriage, yet not the title 'marriage', its effect on the public realm will be the same. Civil unions will be taught in schools as having equal value as marriage, and over time of course that will help break down opposition to giving up the word 'marriage', and then the Left will have a complete and total victory.

What's the link for his blog? If someone at Regis is involved, I definitely will have to write some letters. Dr. Edwin Feulner, president of the conservative Heritage Foundation is on the board of trustees, and Fr. Thomas B. Curran, Associate Vice President, University Relations, was president of the high school I went to before going to Regis. In fact, I just ran into him yesterday at Union Station in DC.

Man, that is disturbing. Must be criminal to expose kids to that sort of obscene material.

Agreed to both of your points. However, a few points in reply to clarify:

1. The situation in public schools, on average, is worsening. Being a product of the public schools is no indication of what conditions exist now - even in the school you may have attended.

2. The fact that the book is in public schools at all demonstrates a severe lack of judgement and, to some degree, a conspiracy. Yes, individual families might be off the beam, but their effect will be limited to one family. When public schools foist such rot, the impact is much, much worse.

3. There will be NO real reform in public schools until they are bankrupt and their political power is broken. This will not occur with compliance and attendance.

4. Individual families may fight a rear guard action against the public schools systems but, on average, those energies would be more productively spent with their own children. With co-ops, a homeschooled child is not deprived, academically or socially, in any way - quite the opposite.

They are C.I.N.O.'s. (Catholics-in-name-only).

This is absolutely unbelievable.

If one could go back fifty years in time and tell another person something like this would happen, they would say they were lying through their teeth.

See what happens when same-sex 'marriage' is legalized via the courts.

But I forgot... there is no slippery slope. /Sarcasm off.

More lingering effects due to the "stench from the bench."

"It is child abuse to send your children to government schools."

Then we are a nation of child-abusers by proxy, for we allowed our government to alter and finance the curriculum with tax dollars.

So we're all complicit.

I have no solution, but I don't believe it can be solved at the ballot box.
