"Waiting for Dane to show up and spew the latest GOP talking points."

Talking points hell, it's pure unadulterated crap coming out the wrong end!

Dane was banned for 7 days . A Mod warned him to knock it off, and then he taunted the Mod. Anyone else would have
been permanently banned.

" I return their postage paid envelopes empty except for a nasty-gram about securing the borders."

Join the revolt...I'm calling it "Pesos for the Party." Instead of not responding or responding to their soliciations in an unkindly manner, I'm suggesting you send the RNC 10 Pesos (about one usd). Go to about any construction site for currency conversion. No words are needed in your reply.

If Tancredo leaves the Republican Party, then so do I! In many ways I already have.

Same here. I return the RNC's requests for money with a note that I'm supporting the MMP instead. But if Tancredo is asked to leave, I may join again - just so I can formally quit.

I heard that Jim Gilchrist suggested we contribute to groups wanting to secure the border (such as the MMP) and then write to whatever political party we belong to and make them aware that we are donating money to the cause. Maybe that will help attract attention to the matter. The GOP (or any other party) might change their course if money is starting to be involved.

After reading the article, it doesn't sound to me like the GOP as an organization asked Tancredo get out but rather an individual Republican (Cannon) who was pandering for votes.

I just read the following on http://www.newsmax.com/archives/articles/2005/5/19/150208.shtml:

This will not win Tancredo any friends at the White House. It is recalled that when he last visited Karl Rove, the Bush ayatollah, and spoke of the illegal invasion, Rove told Tancredo to leave the office and not to "darken the doorstep again." Rove, who speaks for the president, told the Republican hierarchy not to support Tancredo financially and actually suggested they find another Republican to run against him.

I am astonished. This does not bode well for the future.

I have to say that I am naively shocked at Bush's and Rove's response to illegal immigration. During the election, I put Bush's position down to his trying to get votes, all the while assuming he didn't mean it. Boy, was I wrong! Then, I thought he was just misguided. Now it appears it is a planned, carefully thought out position - and I find this even more scary. And despicable.

You and I think alike. I felt the same way before the election and my wife told me I was crazy for believing Bush would crack down on the border after he was elected. She was right and I was wrong. I honestly thought that as a lame duck he would not have to kowtow to the bean eaters. I was fooled once. He won't fool me again.
I will write in either Ron Paul or Tancredo rather than vote for another phony like Bush.

I thought the same way. I am becoming alarmed that we are de facto giving the southwest to Mexico -- and for what gain?
