Democrats would agree to oppose future filibusters, save for "extreme circumstances."

Stupid, stupid, all around. This story has to be bogus. Dems would never agree to it. If the circumstances were not not deemed "extreme," by 50 senators, the nuke option would reappear. It just sets the bar higher for Dems. No more chat about some sacred tradition. If Lott managed to get it, he is a genius. He gets some judges through, with a bonus of a higher bar for media consumption.

If Lott managed to get it, he is a genius.

And the chances of that are somewhere betweeen slim and none.

And the RNC-donating suckers thought they'd seen the last of this spineless, helmet-haired homo . . . . . . .

Suckers!

It just sets the bar higher for Dems.

I don't think it really does.

All Reid has to say, is that he doesn't think the nominee is extreme and then watch 41 of his fellow dems say it is, and filibuster.

Its just a bunch of legal speak.

Some of these left wing lunatics think everyone is out of the mainstream.

A judge who was elected twice is out of the mainstream, is a direct shot at saying the voters themselves are out of the mainstream i.e. the world could be to conservative for them.

Hell, the DUmmies and daily kos think the media (including CNN and Dan Rather) are "conservative" and have even labeled former senate majority leader George Mitchell as "centrist" to slight conservative (he is the current chairman of Disney).

The bar stays the same, the words just change.

I also wouldn't put it pass Reid to pull "catch and release" with his votes as often as possible. He'd definatley do it with judicial nominees.

I had heard this proposal was already dead. The Pittsburgh Tribune Review is a pretty good paper but was everyone on vacation yesterday?

I had a stomach-churning hunch that when Lott was exiled to the Rules Committee that this was gonna bite us.

Lott gives me the creeps.

I remember when he and Hastert went to the Crawford ranch and he had that silly feather in his hat. That was too strange.

I thought then he was trouble just waiting to happen.

Amen. Just a jelly-spined mush-mouth wussy. I'll bet he got beat up by the girls in grade school. Wasn't he a cheer leader, or was that another RINO?

Yeah, that feather hat was....wierd. A ranch in Texas is no place to be hanging out your "gay signal."

I think it was Registered that photoshopped the feather into a tampon.

Whenever I see Lott on TV, I see that picture. Yuck.

How could anybody take this candyass seriously? He's either a complete idiot or blithely ignorant to believe he's some kind of man, some kind of leader. You'd expect our country to demand/deserve better than this puss. Apparently not.

Just look at this nancyboy:

Do you think this dork is even slightly aware of the millions of people laughing at him?

This forum sometimes suffers from a disease called kneejerkitis.

After the way Lott handled the impeachment trial (never mind how many times he was rolled in the Senate), it is not be so impetuous to suspect publicly that he would cut another flakey deal that would kill the nuclear option. After all, he is a "former" Democrat. To sound alarm that such a deal might be in the works could go a long way toward precluding it, and as such, has its usefulness: It puts focus upon the objects where it should reside: Lott and those who appointed him to the Rules Committee, very possibly knowing that the fight over judicial nominations would come his way.

That the RINOs, who represent nothing and no one and devote their energies to nothing more complicated nor princpled than the preservation of their own tenure, should rally behind a "former" "Democrat" should surely suprise no one smart enough to be worthy of the title: "FReeper!"
