Hooray!! I guess our flooding the Senators offices all day is paying off.
Thanks for the compliment, BTW..
For the Senate I think it is pretty tough....course if you want the nuclear option you won't be happy!
Confirm them.com reviews what happened and says something funny's going on--Conclusion:
{quote]SOMEbody, or a number of somebodies in the Senate, seemed scared of what Specter would do. And Lott, whose deal was reported in Roll Call today, and then whose press person said there was no deal, was part of what looked like deliberate subterfuge to change the subject on the floor. VERY VERY VERY strange all around. Methinks I see a GOP implosion happening before our eyes. And if thats NOT what is happening, then Frist needs to act, and ACT NOW, to lower the boom, pass the constitutional option, and stop allowing more time for nervous nellies to gum up the works. !!!!!!!!!!!!! [/quote] http://www.confirmthem.com/?p=433
I agree...surprising really!!!
But Good!
The RINO's were not going to let the Nuclear option happen....se we need to get something done!
I told them we Republicans in the heartland will not forget it when elections roll around if they bend to the will of the Dims.
If we had wanted dimocraps to be the majority in the Senate, Congress, and WhiteHouse...we would have voted for the dimocraps. You're the Majority, now act like it.
I don't think Frist has the votes to do the Nuclear thing!
I told them we wanted ALL Bush's nominees voted on. ALL of them. Up or down, they get a vote. No deals.
Make that "for Senate Republicans" it's pretty tough. Specter is willing to sacrifice some of President Bush's nominees at the committee level, in order to avoid forcing cloture or an up/down vote. As chair of the Judiciary Committee, he has the ability to "make that happen."
If Specter has his way, the Senate will continue to shirk it's duty to vote on (some) nominees. This is not what Frist mouthed - that nominees would get a vote.
As conservatives .....we DO NOT have the majority....that is THE PROBLEM!!!
You can really see it in California!!!!
He mentioned even Janice Brown...I inferred she would also be brought to the floor....
Do you know different?
Is it Specter or his rino double? Has a DNA analysis been done on him to verify that it is indeed Specter himself. :-)
Specter must have some fire up his kilt
You can really see it in California!!!!
I hope they get tossed out on their %ss in the next election cycle. It's time to go for the nuclear option on rinos.
(if he had bodily gas, we might get a real nuclear option)I hope he can maintain a Republican chain of thought and speech.
RINOS are despicable....Give the word to Voinovitch,
McCain, Hagel..they are toast...forget going through
the 2008 charade.....And Dems...Schumer, Leahy, and
Biden..can all bite the bullet or keep going to Imus
for support and they will get their own anus in the vice....Jake
That's what I told them when I called. I've tried calling Vinovich many times...nothing Lotts number was still busy when I tried calling for the umpteenth time.
I am not going to flame anyone on this thread, but for those that are leaning towards "accepting" less than complete success, better keep looking at what is happening re: the Bolton nomination...
The dems "made a deal" during that infamous meeting when they were supposed to vote him out of committee to a floor debate and vote.
The dems asked for more time and material--and Lugar said something to the effect at the very end of the meeting like, "We have to trust each other"---well,
I just watched a presser by the State Dept. where they are being asked about a bunch of EXTRA classified info that the dems are requesting that Condi and the State dept and even John Negroponte have said NO about releasing...
The dems are gonna threaten to not show up for the PROMISED vote on Thursday if they don't get this information and the State Dept is saying NO.
So all of ya'll that want to "go half-way" on the judicial nominations, take heed, with the dems, they want IT ALL, EVERYTHING! So I personally won't settle for any capitulation on the part of Frist or Specter....
I wasn't paying close attention to the context when he brought up her name. Will wait for the record and see what he said there.
I agree with your speculation that the GOP lacks a simple majority for changing the rules, even if the context was a single nominee.
Please see post 149. I think Roll Call isn't as reliable as some think. According to NRO, no deal and Lott didn't even talk to Nelson this weekend.
