Says something about you CM55.....that you are able to finish what you start. Believe it or not, that's a trait sorely lacking in people these days.

CONGRATS!

"Hey, you left out: Wear a jacket! (or do only moms say that?)"
Well, one is to start with the essentials: first, "put the trousers on!" (quote from Chekhov's letter to his brother, BTW). The jacket comes later.

Congratulations.

I got a degree in engineering in 93, 17 years after I was supposed to. It doubled my salary, hooked me up with really sharp people that I learned a lot from, and made me a lot more attractive to the opposite sex. They really like a man with a job and a good salary!

Again, congrats. Life will be good.

1. Never eat in a place called "Mom's."
2. Never play cards with a man named "Doc."
3. Never get involved with a woman who has more troubles than you do.

In a few years you will look back at this a the saddest day in your life. College days are the best days of one's entire existence.>>>>>

I heard the same thing from first grade through high school, "these are the best days of your life"! Wasn't true for me and I doubt it is true for the majority of people. My best days were spent running my own business.

Commencement ceremonies begin Friday

OSU distinguished alumnus to speak at commencement.

Seniors, it’s finally here. The Oklahoma State University spring commencement ceremonies will take place in Gallagher-Iba Arena on Friday and Saturday.

Spring and summer bachelor’s degree candidates are eligible to participate in one of two ceremonies on Saturday.

Participants in the morning ceremony include students graduating from the Spears School of Business; the College of Engineering, Architecture and Technology and the College of Human Environmental Sciences. The morning ceremony will begin at 9:45 a.m. with a processional of the graduating students into GIA. The commencement ceremony will begin at 10 a.m. and last until noon.

The afternoon ceremony will honor graduates of the College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources, the College of Arts and Sciences, the College of Education and the Center for Veterinary Health Services. The processional will begin at 1:45 p.m. with the commencement ceremony beginning at 2 p.m. and lasting until 4 p.m.

“It’s been a great four years,” said Missy Protas, advertising senior. “I’ve had a lot of fun, but I can’t wait to graduate.”

After including both spring and summer undergraduates and graduate college students, 3,567 graduates are expected to participate in the ceremonies.

Commencement for students in the Graduate College will take place in GIA on Friday evening at 7 p.m. The Graduate College will host a reception in GIA immediately after the conclusion of the ceremony.

Before each of the commencement ceremonies is the grand march through campus, a tradition started by former OSU President James Halligan. Candidates are presented medallions and lithographs of campus scenes to commemorate their participation in commencement activities. The march through campus leads the graduates to the processional into the arena.

“I’m really looking forward to graduation,” said Nicholas Gregory, international business and marketing senior. “I’m staying at Oklahoma State for another two years to get my master’s degree in international studies.”

The speaker for the ceremonies is OSU graduate and Texas oilman Ross McKnight.

McKnight graduated from OSU in 1971 with a degree in animal science. While at OSU, McKnight served as the Student Government Association president.

In addition to being a lifetime member of the OSU Alumni Association, McKnight recently completed a two-year term as chairman of the OSU Foundation. He was honored with the Distinguished Alumni Award in 1996 and was named a Graduate of Distinction by the department of animal science in 1998, according to the commencement Web site.

McKnight has made numerous contributions to OSU athletics. He is one of the seven founding members of the Athletic Associates, where he is currently serving as the organization’s first president. McKnight is also co-chairman of the Boone Pickens Stadium Campaign.

“We chose Ross McKnight to speak at commencement because of his professional success and his contributions to the university,” said Bill Ivy, assistant vice president of enrollment management and marketing.

In addition to his agricultural interests in ranching and farming, McKnight is the president and chairman of the board at the RoMac Oil Company, an oil and gas exploration company, and RoMac Gas Company, a natural gas gathering company, both in Texas. Also, McKnight is chief executive officer and chairman of the board of two bank holding companies that own independent banks in 14 Texas communities, according to the commencement Web site.

I'm headed to a small market. Probably Texas to start my training as a reporter.

Congratulations, but be careful using "small" and "Texas" in the same post!
